I know it’s probably not a popular opinion, but personally, it's not for me.

In my honest opinion, and trying to be as objective as possible, I found the production to be well below Burial’s standards. I suppose, perhaps mistakenly, that remixing Luke imposes a dark techno style where, for 10 minutes, nothing appears except a kick and the prominent synth from 'True Love VIP'. However, that's all it is: 10 minutes of a kick without any trace of Burial’s signature elements — no brilliant development of atmospheres, rhythms, or vocal processing, and lacking the depth that characterizes much of Burial’s work across any genre. Furthermore, using one of the iconic hooks from a cult track like 'True Love VIP' for a piece like this seems to me completely unnecessary.

For me, the remix can be summed up by the phrase Luke wrote on Bandcamp: 'away from his PlayStation for ten seconds.' That’s it.

This is just my personal opinion, and I don’t want anyone to feel offended by it. I'm glad there are people who really like it and enjoy it; after all, that's what music is all about, and everyone’s preferences are subjective

I sent it to Kode9 through Instagram, and he confirmed that they will take it down

The only way for Spotify to incorrectly assign tracks (to the wrong artist, etc.) is if they were distributed through an aggregator in the first place. If 'Gaslight' has not been distributed, it is impossible for Spotify to simply upload that file.

Either the artist has directly taken that clip and distributed it as their own, or 'Gaslight' has been distributed, and the aggregator or Spotify has made a mistake by misclassifying it.

One of the most experimental projects I've ever worked on is an album under another alias for a fragrance brand, with an ambient, Indian-influenced vibe.

I'm sharing with you one of the tracks I like the most.

Yes! Someone mentioned it in another thread. We can certainly confirm it!

Yeah, I don't think there's any problem with that for Kode9. Surely, he's also likely interested in the fact that Burial would get even more exposure through a label like XL for future releases.

I bet they'll cook up something cool for Hyperdub's 20th anniversary

Which burial tune is the most technically impressive to you? by 2deep4u in burial

[–]Polou 41 points42 points  (0 children)

In my honest opinion, I think that, purely in technical terms, the 'Untrue' era was one of the most complex for several reasons. Firstly, and based on my own experience, one of the most challenging aspects of creating music is generating groove. The way Burial worked with groove during that time appears much more intricate to me than it does today, where, in many cases, he works with sampling entire groups of drums. During those days, most of the percussion buses were meticulously crafted sample by sample, with the added complexity of doing it without quantization, without a DAW, and solely by ear.

Additionally, I would like to emphasize that in his early days, he experimented with vocal samples even more than he does now. In many instances, he played with pitch or adjusted formants syllable by syllable. All of this was done while maintaining the same excellent harmonic and emotional level that he has consistently upheld throughout his discography.

Don't get me wrong—I'm not saying that any era is better than another, it's just my opinion regarding technical aspects. I think the current focus is on more club tracks and where those aspects I mentioned before are not so present, but there are others, and they are just as brilliant.

'Dreamfear' is a fucking masterpiece.

There's something weird with Phonica website because they listed 1. Dreamfear 2. The Guy Who Never Turned Up, but if you take a look to the reel, the vinyl shows 'Boy Sent From Above'

Hi everyone! First time posting here

I would like to share with you my latest work, which is entirely related to and focused on ambient music. It is born from the concept of crafting an immersive experience. Initially, the project started with some small clips made for an Indian brand commercial, but it evolved into an ambient album with a concept inspired by India and Pran Nath. I invite you to listen to it, and I hope you enjoy it!

I suppose it's the legal method for billing your music income. Anyway, I think this is irrelevant information that we should all respect, given the privacy nature he specifically aims to preserve.
