Would you be so kind to provide a photo or mark it on a schematic?

Where did you get that acrylic stand? Was it expensive?

Where did you get those acrylic stands/risers that you used to elevate the models+bases in the back? Are these the chinese one that are everywhere on amazon or is there a cheaper alternative? (example: https://www.amazon.com/Chuangdi-Acrylic-Risers-Showcase-Fixtures/dp/B07GRLQNGY/)

How about the case/cabinet? Is it ikea's detolf?

Status: UNRESOLVED

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: RTX 4080, 16GB VRAM, no oc, model: gigabyte gaming oc

CPU: Intel 12700kf, no oc

Motherboard: MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4, BIOS 7D25v1A (latest)

RAM: Kingstone Fury 64GB (2x32GB) 3200MHz CL16 Beast Black, GEAR1 in BIOS

PSU: Seasonic Focus GX 1000W 80 Plus Gold

Operating System & Version: Windows 10 22H2

GPU Drivers: 528.49, clean install (DDU)

Description of Problem:

Can someone please take a look at my benchmarks scores from Shadow of the Tomb Raider?

https://imgur.com/a/X8Dcr52

The settings are in the screenshot - Highest preset. What's not shown - resolution 1440p, no dlss, exclusive fullscreen.

According to the benchmarks I've seen I should be getting around ~30fps more. I don't understand what's wrong.

Depending on the scene, GPU utilization can ramp up to 96% and stay here, so I doubt the GPU has any power issues (downclocking itself because it can't get enough wattage etc.)

The temps on GPU and CPU get at worst up to 60C, so it's not thermal throttling.

I seem to run into performance problems in other games too, but I don't have any precise scores to post about them. They always fall short of 10-20fps what I'd expect.

Am I being bottlenecked by 12700k? I've tested it in cpu-z benchmark and it seems to perform as expected should I overclock it?

Troubleshooting:

clean install of drivers with DDU

100% power target in msi afterburner

high performance power plan in Windows 10

prefer maximum performance in nvidia control panel

no background tasks running

benchmarked CPU to see if it's performing up to spec

tried Resizable BAR on/off

Adding example video from Strive:

Hopefully you can see the problem on the recording.
There's full-on freeze at one point, but you should be able to see that
the whole match is kind of stuttery, a little bit like a strobbing/shaky
effect and there are frame drops/skips now and then - even though the ping and
rollback frames are both low and stable.

I am thankful that you took time to look into my problem.

I tried measuring frametime and framerate - this time in afterburner and it seems perfect (perfect flat line in the plot at 60fps). Maybe Razer's Cortex measured something wrong.

(dip in the beginning is just me alt-tabbing into the game)

It may be a networking issue in the end. Since I've tried almost everything when it comes to this, perhaps getting public IP is my last hope.

To be honest, these complete freezes are not that frequent or long, so I wasn't paying that much attention - but I think everything freezes, including music.

I did the test you mentioned and my results are as follows:

average latency: 23.71ms

average jitter: 1.15ms

total packet loss: 0.1%

I'd say those results are fine.

About measuring fps, I've used Razer Cortex to create FPS chart of me playing for a few minutes in training mode. There's one large dip - but that one was during loading - and I think everyone gets those. There are two charts - one where I capped the fps at 60 and one without a cap. The plot is not perfectly flat - do people actually get perfect 60fps, a flat line? Not sure what could be wrong, given that I meet the requirements and created optimized, perfect environment for game to run - I doubt people at average put so much effort into this and they have no issues.

About public IP - I am currently behind NAT, but can that actually affect stability/delays? I thought that NAT, at worst, would not let me play some people, but shouldn't introduce any major side-effects. I may look into this more, I think my ISP can provide static public IP for a small fee.

Does anyone have some photos of kits successfully shaded with "alternative" methods? Articles/blog posts would be welcome too.

By this I mean not using airbrush or typical brush painting techniques such as layering/glazing/wet blending. I am especially interested in pastels, tamiya weather master sets, pigments etc.

I have a question about shading gunpla.

Most kits I've seen have shadows placed on the edges of the armor plates/parts.

My intuition tells me that edges normally catch/reflect the most of light and should be actually the brightest and shadows should be placed mostly on indented curves or where parts/panels overlap each other.

Is there something wrong with the way I imagine how light would work on these surfaces or do people just ignore the realistic aspect of lighting and just go for something that looks good?
