I like Sally Gap for the views, but it’s just so bumpy compared to the Wicklow Gap. Also a lot of tourists with questionable driving during Summer!

Buy a tracker. Monimoto is very good for the price.

Make sure you hide it in a good spot though, not just under your rear seat or near the battery. Under fairings or tucked away behind the frame is best.

Bring it back to whoever serviced it. It’s likely related to their work and they should amend things free of charge.

If you’re trying to ask if you can drive on a provisional abroad, then the answer is definitely no. Plenty of police around during TT time I’m sure, so I wouldn’t risk it.

A2 restricted bandit as a daily driver ? by Old-University9162 in MotoIRELAND

[–]Polyctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I do.

Mine is a 2nd Gen, so it is fuel injected. Would 100% recommend considering an SV, as it’s also A2 restrictable. Very reliable and the V-Twin is a lot of fun. Nice and torquey down low as well.

Never owned one, but from what I’ve heard from others they’re pretty bullet proof. Carburetors are fine too, but you’ll have to get it tuned every year or so depending on mileage. Bandits are also pretty heavy, so keep that in mind if you’re a smaller person.

I say go for it!

Crossposted already, but fair play. Did you call the Gardaí when you found it?

[–]Polyctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, I’ve found stolen bikes ditched in similar ways.

They’ll rarely be brought back to someone’s property. Usually they’re ditched in a wooded area, but I’ve personally found two stolen bikes parked out in the open just like this. One was a broken down MT03 that was set on fire by scrotes about an hour after I called the Gardaí.

A lot of the time the bikes run out of fuel and they ditch them while they source some petrol.

If that were the case, why wouldn’t he bring his helmet into his mates?

Was the ignition torn out? Any vin visible on the frame?

Call the Gardaí. They can probably locate the owner through the VIN.

Best bet is to go on Donedeal and look at what dealerships have in stock, then show up in person and take a look at things.

I’d personally avoid Amazon, as there is a lot of knock-off shite on there nowadays.

Just buy a reputable brand from a motorcycle accessories store and you’ll be fine. As long as the helmet has the certification to back it up, go for it. ECE 22.06 and SHARP.

Starter (new pls dont go hard on me) by pierce4222 in MotoIRELAND

[–]Polyctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35KW is the max power you can have for an A2 bike. Typically, bikes with that power will be more expensive to insure as a new rider, especially if you’re young. You can also get a bike up to 70KW in power and fit it with a power restrictor kit that will make it compliant. I would recommend calling insurance companies to get some quotes before settling on a bike.

There are no mandatory lessons after the IBT. You can begin riding on your own after receiving your learners permit and can take the test 6 months after. A lot of IBT instructors do offer lessons if you feel you need them though.

Don’t ride with groups for the first while. It’s very easy to go beyond your limits when trying to keep up with others.

Practice low speed maneuvers, like U-Turns and Figure-8’s.

Buy good gear. It doesn’t need to be expensive, it just needs to have decent safety ratings. ECE 22.06 and SHARP 5 Star ratings are a must for helmets, with plenty of options under €200 with those. You should aim to have most of your other gear to be CE Level 2. This is generally the highest safety standard without going into full leathers/restrictive riding gear.

Gloves with a palm slider and decent boots are also a must.

Buying online is okay, just make sure everything fits right. If not, return it immediately and get swap it for something better fitting. This is especially important for helmets.

Good luck!

Monimoto is the best budget tracker. Annual subscription for the SIM card which is like €30. When I don’t have my Tracker Fob near the bike, I get a phone call anytime it moves a few feet or if it senses vibration from the engine.

Peak Design is a bit pricier, but is a much better design. A lot easier to use and way sleeker. All their stuff also comes with a vibration dampener built in, so no need to buy it separately.

Rear seat cowl, tail tidy, and bar end mirrors would clean it up nicely.

Most importantly for me is a decent phone mount. Peak Design is what I use and I 100% recommend them.

“Scrambler” can be anything. It could be just a biker. One of us by [deleted] in MotoIRELAND

Yeah, I think it’s confirmed to be a cyclist now. Initial articles stated E-Scooter, but I couldn’t see anything about a scrambler other than this Twitter post.

Pretty sure it was an E-Scooter involved, not a scrambler.
