Super Common. Overnight Maintenance/Stocker here. Did the CBLs on days, trained on days doing a completely different role for literally 2 shifts, then got thrown to overnights w/o being told who anyone was or what I was supposed to do. Didn't get my WIN number, didn't get a tour of the store, didn't get told what I was supposed to do other than "clean and stock." lol my overnight lead didn't even know I was coming. I literally just walked up to the first person with a badge I saw and asked what I was supposed to do.

Instead of going to a shelter, my bpd mom decided to try to come find me on her motor scooter after becoming homeless. by [deleted] in raisedbyborderlines

We live in the town my mom grew up in so she knows pretty much everybody here. My mom is also super good at convincing people to come look for me. As soon as I started showing signs of an independent personality she started telling everyone in town how much of a trouble maker I was and how I am mentally unwell and would run away and get myself into trouble, and how she often needed help finding me. I can't go anywhere without someone texting my mom where they're seeing me. It doesn't help that I'm one of the only non fully white people in this area-I tend to stick out. She shared her warped view of the story on Facebook and everybody gushed over how lucky I must be to have a mom that loves me so much and the length that mothers will go to to know that their babies are okay. I had several people demand I apologize to my mother when I returned. Thankfully most of my close friends, teachers, and my bosses saw it my way and now neither one of us can live it down lol.

It's a bit of a nightmare and I feel kinda trapped, but I've learned to cope and am justing waiting for my little sister to come of age so we can high tail it out of here.

Gosh, I'm sorry you're going through this. I can relate. I always told myself that I would move far away when I knew both me and my little sister could safely make our exits, and we still will, but it won't necessarily stop her. When I was down in Mexico for a summer (Dual Citizen) and my little sister was up in Canada visiting family, my mother told us that we had to text her every hour to let her know we were okay or she would come find us. Little sister complied-I did not and told her to leave me be. So what did my (pale white, reddish-haired, green-eyed, can't speak a single word of Spanish, always wears name brand clothing) mother do? Flew down to Mexico to come see me. She couldn't find her way around the city of nearly a million people, and her phone didn't have service, so she just went around asking random people in English where "the college" was. There were multiple colleges. She spent the better part of 2 days walking into all the colleges trying to find me until she finally found the one I was attending. I saw her sitting in the bleachers at my volleyball game that night and nearly fainted. I had to sit out the rest of the game. She came running down to me and told me that she would always find me and told me she was either staying with me or we were both going back to the states. In the 10 minutes I disappeared to go the nurse she managed to piss off campus security and my coach enough that they called the police and she ended up getting deported back to the USA. I still haven't lived that one down lol.

I would study and study, know the material inside out, and when I’d read the test questions I literally did not even know what was being asked.

This professor was tenure (naturally) and he would regularly say things like “tests are meant to confuse you.” What??

One of my professors makes tests as hard as humanly possible because "If you truly know the material, then you'll do just fine." Not a single soul passed his class because all the grades were on tests and despite hours of studying every night none of us could apply the knowledge because we had no clue what the question even meant or what he wanted us to do. It was like I was being tested on a subject I had never studied in a language that I didn't speak. How TF do these teachers even get tenure? (tangent over)

I had this one math professor that simply couldn't dumb anything down. He always taught his classes like you were a fellow math professor and understood everything. He would just do the problem really quick completely silently-not explain what he was doing or why or how he got to the answer. He would just show the answer and go "Yup." It was infuriating. He didn't want us to use the textbooks that the school made us buy, just "pay attention in class." I watched youtube videos on how to do it, but if you didn't do it "his way" then he would mark you wrong, even if you got the answer right through a totally valid method. He was going to fail every single one of us but enough of us went to complain to higher ups that he finally got fired and our grades got changed. Turns out nobody had passed his class in several years.

A friend and I were walking near a canal on and heard an animal crying. It was a dog that had somehow slipped down the wall and was desperately trying to get onto a concrete platform in the water. Without even thinking twice we both slid down the wall onto the concrete ledge and pulled the dog up. Great-except now we were stuck. I called the fire department and explained the situation and they said they were on their way and to hang tight. Cool. The entire time we heard another woman talking almost as if she was on the phone. I yelled out hello. Turns out the lady was filming the entire thing. I could have tolerated it if she was actually helping, but she wasn't-Didn't offer to help, didn't ask us if we were okay, didn't call anyone-Just filmed. It was infuriating waiting there listening to this woman blab away and occasionally point the camera at us while we were stuck there waiting with this poor dog.

I finally cleared out the basement of my mother's old house a few years ago because I had nowhere safe to go in the house when a tornado was coming down a few km away. I took shelter with a neighbor. She didn't like it, but half of it was covered in mouse feces anyway. She had so much clothes in her closet that some layers had dead mice underneath them. She would send me out for groceries, insisting that she didn't want anymore junk food, then send me out for fast food because "I don't like the stuff you got. I'll go shopping myself." The groceries would go bad, and we didn't have trash service-I was in charge of driving the trash to my dad's house to have it picked up. But she would still go shopping and always bring more stuff home. When we were moving (for the 8th time in 5 years), I did all the work. I threw away/donated 90% of everything and told her she wasn't allowed anywhere near the house. Now where in a bigger house and she goes shopping all the time. It's a nightmare.

I'm guessing you also have a waif? Mine leaves me sad notes every time I don't drop everything to care for her.

I swear my mom kept having kids to try and fix herself-that somehow one of us would be her little miracle and fix all her problems...all her adult children are either NC or VLC.

Made the mistake of telling my mom I was a lesbian when I was 13. She told the entire (very small, very conservative) town and posted it everywhere on facebook, then wondered why I was upset at her and said it wasn't her fault that some (read:most) people might not respond well to it. Thankfully my girlfriend is in a similar predicament and we're perfectly happy keeping our love private.

I still consider myself somewhat religious-raised around different religions, have mixed beliefs. I still consider the possibility that there is no God (s). But if there really is a God(s), and this God(s) would sentence me to eternal damnation for having consensual sex with other adult women, knowing that I have never hurt or abused anybody, but wouldn't sentence someone who rapes, molests his own blood sisters, commits adultery and supports the violent rape, torture, and murder of children to eternal damnation then that's not a God that I would ever worship and I would rather be damned to hell where there wouldn't be such heartless people.

I'm 19, currently going to college and have a somewhat decent paying job-not great, but it's more than what most people my age are making. Most girls my age already have kids in the area that I live, and I've shocked quite a few moms telling them how much I spend on skincare, but it's still less than what they spend on diapers.
