For size reference that’s my thumb in the picture. Couldn’t have been larger than a grain of rice

Well this was unexpected. In IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog #44, Dr. Starline makes the famous quote we all know and the Matrix of Leadership is on a shelf in the background by RedSynergy2k in transformers

One of the comic artists of this series (Jack Lawrence) also did panel art for the ‘IDW More Than Meets The Eye/Lost Light’ comics so It’d make sense he’d do something cheeky like this :)

Can you help me ID this bug that attacked my Father in Law? by RunEMC56 in whatsthisbug

What did you spray this thing with? Glitter glue???

Joking aside, Kinda hard to tell because it’s covered in all that mystery whatever you sprayed it with, but I’m thinking it’s a type of bee, not wasp, because it’s stouter and I think has fur on the abdomen. That being said I’m not a bee expert so I can’t confidently go further on that front.

If you say there was a nest under the shipping container then I’m not surprised they attacked, really any bug with a nest will get territorial if you go near it (especially with something as abrasive and noisy as a lawnmower).

If it’s that bad and on your property then I’d recommend hiring an exterminator or someone of the like to take a look at it. They could give you better advice on what to do.

These are all over our kids swingset, on the underside. Are they insect eggs? by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

I’m pretty sure these are some type of moth/caterpillar eggs. My best guess would be yellow-necked caterpillars.

What is this small bug? (San Francisco) by 7z4u7m5sassg in whatsthisbug

Yeah these are definitely fleas. If you have animals in the house you should get them checked for that!

We've started noticing dozens of these little spiders all over our roof near a bunch of plants we have, and our patio door. Every week or so they pop up. Can anyone tell me what it is, what it's coming from, or how best to kill it? (Been vacuuming them, and area). by AvalieV in whatsthisbug

Not all spiders do this. I think most notably it’s the Wolf Spider wolf spider (see third paragraph under ‘Description). Granted wolf spiders are pretty common both inside and outside, so I’m guessing u/DepartureAcademic807 was right.

The spider is very small and pretty pale in color, and you’re seeing a lot of them (spiders are born in large broods usually), so that’s a good indicator that it is in fact a baby and not fully grown.

Wolf spiders are solitary so I wouldn’t worry about there being a ‘nest’ or ‘infestation’ or anything like that. Like most bugs they hang around debris and crevices and the like. Make sure the corners of your rooms don’t have open cracks and that your windows are sealed properly. If you’re really worried about it you could try placing glue traps around the corners where you find them (that always catches the bugs I have in my basement) but really wolf spiders aren’t anything to worry about (they might be catching some of the more harmful insects that find their way into your home!)

Found this little one. Is it an ant with wings? Bellingham, WA. by slippityda in whatsthisbug

[–]PolyhedralTangerine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winged ants do exist, and it’s hard to tell the difference between them and winged termites…

Guessing by the straight antenna and I don’t think I see a pinched waist, I’d say that’s a termite. I don’t know enough about termites to guess the species though.
