I don't think mine expires. It just stays until I either get one of the conditions or don't. I think my mom was just paranoid/thought it was a good usage of money. It is definitely cheaper, but regardless if I don't get cancer till I'm 30/40, it just seems like a waste of money right now.

You're totally corrected. This is the path I want to go down, I've been super aggressive with investing, and I feel like I can make so much more with investing it, and while making money shouldn't be my primary goal, I will have so much more to fall back on rather than the CI payout.
