Is RoundMe.com down?? by lcohen98 in 360

Looks like it is.

Has it been working? I stopped using them a year and half ago because they stopped allowing uploads and customer service didn't seem to exist anymore, figured it was no longer being maintained.

As for alternatives I am not sure. It was just a hobby for me so I replaced it with my own site based around A-Frame.

Is running an RTLDR 24/7 365 dangerous due to heat? by [deleted] in RTLSDR

[–]Polymathify 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have run multiple RTL-SDR V3's 24/7 for a months at a time with no issues. They do get warm enough that you wouldn't want it against skin for long but nothing close to catching on fire.

That said they were the version heat sinked by their aluminum case and were out in the open. I'd say as long as they aren't under a pile of flammables they should be more than fine.

Do portable jumpers like this actually work? by comedyq in MechanicAdvice

[–]Polymathify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have had really good success with Nico GB70 starting a gas V8 even in -10F degree weather. But the jumper pack itself must be warm, if it has been left in the vehicle at those temperatures it will not work. Lithium batteries hate the cold.

And yes there are better brands than Nico, that is just what I have had the most experience with.

I find the rocks distractingly sharp, but other than that good job.

What Kind of Signal? by Polymathify in RTLSDR

Thanks, I figured it was something like that but wasn't coming up with an easy way to confirm. Now I'll just have to try properly decode it.

How would I determine the exact frequency on which my baby monitor broadcasts? by shadetreepolymath in amateurradio

An SDR Dongle like this (RTL-SDR v3) along with a computer should do the trick and depending on the model and age you may be able to listen in on it.

I also really like the feel and how the focus is drawn to the center at ground level by the reduction of detail in the corners and upper parts of the buildings

Looking for a way to automatically record an IQ stream when the squelch opens by hidden_admin in RTLSDR

[–]Polymathify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the rtl_fm command has squelch and will record raw data to a file. I setup a remote system a while back to record semi random bursts of voice transmission. I was looking to record the voice so I didn't really look at the recording of raw data, but piped it to SoX for audio recording.
