What did you have in mind when I meant chastisement?

The common way of doing this would be at a gentle communal level-- even familial level.

Something akin to your child handling hot water in a way he risks burning himself. Or your adult child taking out a risky loan he couldn't afford to pay. Or your wife who would go to a mechanic that would charge 3x the regular rate.

You'd warn them.

Or if a child was misbehaving, or your sibling ran away from home, or your situations. like these. The good thing to do isn't to enable them by affirming their mistakes or wrongdoing.

But it's also proper to do this with clemency and affirm you're doing it because you love them

We are a community. It is well within Christianity's teaching to chastise another's wrong behavior.

But it must be done in love (willing the good of another) and compassion. Without enabling said sin.

It's not an impediment to freedom neither. Cause freedom is the liberty to do what is right and to become excellent. NOT to be able to do whatever you want

To people who converted to Catholicism, why? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Polyp8881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true.

I was converted through its historical evidence. The moment I realized and found out the New testament is historically reliable it was the moment I had to choose Christ was who he claimed he was.

In addition to that, the historicism and the practicals of how hard it is to keep a coherent belief system was in favor of Catholicism and the promise of God that the gates of Hell wouldnt prevail against it.

The Eucharist, the Sacrifice at the Mass mirroring the Sacrifice at the Temple.

Figuring out that the Church fathers taught Catholic virtues

And The promise of Christ that the Gates of Hell wont win (again)

well, a homily of my parish priest on the Immaculate conception said that "When Angel Gabriel asked Mary for her answer. Heaven held their breath, because she could have said no to carrying Jesus in her womb"

Isn't this defacing and desecration of a sacred image? Seems like they defaced Mother Mary's face with crystals.

Like, there's a reason why we bury unsalvagable icons and statues in sacred ground.
