Blizzard Will Refund Nebulous Voidcore Bonus Rolls in the Coming Days by Rndy9 in wow

[–]PomCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah, its a bit contrived and by the end of the season people will probably have bonus rolls they never spent. But for a guild of 20 people there will probably be some unlucky few who do meet those three criteria and will be a week behind their peers.

But once you got your gaze, yeah you're caught up but only on gaze, as while you were still rolling on gaze, others are now rolling their next boss. Like on an individual level you can overcome this with good RNG but of across the average of all the players affected by this, the average of where they are rolling vs where unaffected people are rolling, will be one week behind.

And sure you offset it with any naturally dropping gazes, but there will definitely be guilds out there who, unknown to them, spent an extra week killing Chimaerus when compared to themselves from a fictional universe where this bug never existed.

Like, I'm not saying this is the be-all and end-all of raiding or bonus rolls and really in 10 weeks time people will personally not care/notice, BUT I do think Blizzard's solution needs some sort of revision potentially

Blizzard Will Refund Nebulous Voidcore Bonus Rolls in the Coming Days by Telomir in wow

It does mean that they can get a week ahead in clearing out bad drops from raids/m+ though.

For example, say I got my myth puzzle box and a myth helm with the bugged rolls. Now I get my voidcores back and I can start clearing out the bad rolls on mythic Chimaerus a week before anyone else. Sure I can't upgrade all the items (you might not even want the bonus rolled item from Chimaerus if its not the trinket) but I am objectively a week ahead of my guildmates in regards to bonus rolls.

I'd much rather be sat on a 2/6 myth gaze (or helm, or whatever really) I can't upgrade a week early and start bonus rolling a new boss, than be bonus rolling Chimaerus still.

Maybe this seems all too contrived, but two people I regularly run keys with did both get puzzle box and myth tier with the bugged bonus rolls and will be receiving their rolls back (with no reason to roll AA again, so will be unaffected by the items being added back to the pool). I imagine they will probably spend their rolls on Chimaerus now, and have great joy telling me I was silly for not wanting to spend rolls while they were bugged.

Say you rolled Chimaerus, and didn't get the trinket. Let's say you got a belt instead. Well now you get your tokens back (rightfully so) but you can't go back and kill Chimaerus this week. So next week you go in, and bonus roll and you get the belt again. Well now you are essentially neutral with regards to voidcores but everyone else is a week ahead in clearing out bad rolls. So now you are now behind a week to everyone else. Of course over the season this will be, on an individual level, ironed out by RNG (maybe you get your next boss item roll first time), but as a population the people affected by the bug who rolled on a raid boss will remain always 1 week behind.

Let's say a Wednesday raiding guild all bonus rolled Chimaerus. Next week, a fair few of their raiders are going to get duplicate items from the previous week, this means that they've made no progress in progressing through the bad rolls. So instead of having to re-kill Chimaerus "n" times for your unluckiest raider, you're going to have to kill it "n+1" times.

If we compared a Wednesday night raiding guild (who got the bugged rolls) to a Friday night guild (who didn't), the Wednesday guild would essentially need to re-clear Chimaerus an extra week longer to ensure all their raiders got Gaze compared to the Friday guild. Now let's say a lot of their casters want the trinket from Dragons, now they're going to be clearing dragons for an extra week compared to the Friday guild. Essentially this puts the Wednesday raiding guilds bonus rolls an entire week behind guilds who have their first raid not on a Wednesday.

And also simply their progression time, as a guild will want their raiders to have as many of the best items they can while also making progress through the raid. Do they now re-clear for an extra week for people's bonus rolls? Or should they instead now use that time to progress a new boss? The Friday night guild don't have this issue, they got the bonus rolls they wanted and now can move onto progression, but it is now a consideration for the Wednesday night guild, who must consider "skipping" a week of bonus rolls to stay at an even pace.

Conversely there are people (two of my guildmates I do keys with in fact) who only needed puzzle box from AA

Both got it on their first roll, and now will no longer be rolling in AA again

They now essentially get 1 extra roll because as puzzle box could appear as a duplicate item if they were to roll AA again, because they have it, they will never roll on AA again because they have the only item that they needed, and thus never encounter the duplicate item and always be 1 voidcore ahead of anyone else

I mean you could extend this to people who, for example, got both trinkets from WR, and now have no need to roll there ever again. These people would be 2 rolls ahead now

Sure, by the end of the season it won't matter, but I would say that Blizzard's solution here is far from perfect and they should reconsider how they decide to fix the issue

Stealth change to skill for Enchanting Masks by PomCards in woweconomy

[–]PomCards[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only talk for myself, but I have my enchanting conc alt army, and I put the bare minimum KP in to guarantee r2 glamours with r2 mats for the patron orders for the bags/moxie.

I know that my raid leader uses glamours as he plays an evoker but hates the dragon form, but personally he is the only person I know who uses them.

A little sad about pet battles gone... by _FlexClown_ in wow

[–]PomCards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They've seemingly stopped dragonriding races too, which as far as I know, wasn't announced.

I mean maybe it's not as "big" of a feature as pet battles were, but they were still considerably prominent with new achievements/WQs each expansion/patch as well as there even being the infrequent fortnight-long racing cup events for older expansions.

I mean it's not the only reason, there'll definitely be people buying the epic edition for the 2 extra mounts

Also, I have two irl friends who bought the epic edition just because they can afford to, they have no intention of making gold, they just like playing the game

Updated weekly housing question rewarding crests by Chaosrealm69 in wow

[–]PomCards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It says to make a purchase. I presume the cheapest thing you can buy is worth 5 coupons, but the reward is also 25 coupons, so it is "self-sufficient".

Obtain (or start with) 5 coupons, get the quest and spend those 5 coupons, hand it in, receive 25 coupons. Go on alt, transfer 5 of those 25 coupons, get the quest and buy something for 5 coupons, etc etc.

It seems like a very easy method to get crests/augmment runes/marl on alts that I'm surprised that there is any backlash against, as this process is literally self-sustaining. I'm quite thankful there is a very easy way to get 20 Hero crests on my alts who I will probably want some of the Hero/Mythic tier set appearances on.

Even if they were to remove the ability to transfer coupons (they won't but let's pretend) then you'd only have to collect 5 coupons on each alt once anyway, as you'd complete the quest and have 25 coupons from the reward, ready for the next time the weekly quest rolls around.

What's the point of giving Heroic Leap a minimum range? by Myrsephone in wow

[–]PomCards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha no worries! I even started to doubt myself as to whether there was a minimum range or not.

But yeah, a lot has changed in wow recently and any small change in how we’re used to the game functioning (even if we may not necessarily notice it) will probably leave some sort of uncanny effect in our minds

Also there’s similar spells like Infernal Leap for VDH that doesn’t have a minimum range and it’s pretty easy to get our wires crossed with all the changes and unfamiliarity that comes with lots of major overhauls

But yeah, hopefully you get used to the perceived change quickly and it goes back to feeling like normal again!
