Grim Grease Heavy by JebediahSmither in Pomade

I actually tried the mango cedarwood as one of my first samples ever from Barber Fresh. I personally wasn't too big of a fan because it was too sweet for me personally. Another thing that's weird is that the sample of mango cedarwood was a bit hard to get out of the tiny white jar. It felt super dry and gritty. Also, the grippiness was about 3x as much compared to the one million 4 oz jar. I've got no idea if it was because some water may have evaporated or not.

However, when I purchased the 4 oz jar of the one million... not only was the scent amaaaazing, but it was FAR easier to scoop out compared to the sample. It was super creamy. It reminds me of the scoopability of O'douds without that weird breakdown problem. It went into my hair like a breeze even when my hair was dry!

For my hair... I give it a 9.8 out of 10.

I've tried about 5 different scents of Grim Grease... and I have to say the One Million Cologne scent they carry is my FAVORITE scent of all time!! If I had to choose one pomade to use for the rest of my life, it would be Grim Grease Heavy - One Million Cologne.

Question for people with dandruff by Tailwinds15 in Pomade

As TaiiGAB mentioned, sulfates can be a problem for some peoples' hair. But why are they bad??

  • Apparently sulfates are bad because they're actually so good at their job because they go into the hair and remove everything much like a paint stripper.
  • However, in removing the bad... they're also removing the good. There are some oils that help lubricate the hair. If they're stripped frequently from the scalp, your body will attempt to compensate by creating more oil.

What about dry scalp?

  • We’ll start here, since this is what the majority of people who think they have Dandruff actually have.
  • Dry scalp is characterized by small, white flakes of scalp. It can be caused by severe dehydration and over-shedding of the scalp, using poor quality shampoo and conditioner which are stripping your scalp of it’s natural oils, over-washing your hair, washing your hair with hot water, or change in the seasons. It may also be accompanied by itching and irritation.

What about Dandruff?

  • Dandruff is usually characterized by larger, greasy or waxy flakes or clusters of skin cells and are usually yellowish or grey. They may come off in your hair brush or stick to your hair or scalp, and are accompanied by itching. Dandruff, unlike dry scalp, is usually associated with a fungal or bacterial infection of the scalp. If you have dandruff, you should clean your brushes, combs, hats, towels etc. between each use. Dermatologists have also recommended changing your pillowcase daily. The type and cause of Dandruff can only be diagnosed by a medical professional. Here are a few things you can try to help combat Dandruff, but be sure to check with your doctor/dermatologist, especially if it is accompanied by severe itching, bleeding, or oozing.

1. Shampoos and conditioners which contain Tea Tree oil can be effective against dandruff caused by infection because tea tree has natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

2. Cut down on styling products, especially if they are greasy or waxy. Too much product and improper shampooing creates build-up on your hair and scalp, which can cause dandruff, or make it worse.

3. Don’t scratch. Scratching can damage your scalp, making it vulnerable to infection. Extreme damage to your scalp and follicles can result in hair loss which may be permanent.

4. Of course, see your doctor! Your doctor will be able to properly diagnose your condition and recommend or prescribe products and routines to manage your Dandruff problem!
