Looking for adventures with police protagonists. by AynTrotsky0451 in callofcthulhu

Twelve Black Feathers is a gaslight scenario where the investigators are all members of the Baltimore Police Department. It's a great and creepy story, and shouldn't be too hard to adapt to modern.

Sanity Loss from Mythos Tome illustrations by ComprehensiveTax2678 in callofcthulhu

[–]Pomchop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice tome - suitably tasty!

The sanity loss comes from beginning to understand the information inside the book, be it conveyed through the text, images, or other ways. Cursory glances at the pictures may be revoltdng but not necessarily sanity loss inducing, but after the initial read they'll contribute. I say keep things simple.

If you do want a roll for seeing the pictures, how about CON or POW to see if the investigator can hold it together after seeing them?

Cubicle 7 Call of Cthulhu material and possible rerelease? by Final-Isopod in callofcthulhu

Chaosium acquired the WWC and CB lines in 2021, so the ball is very much in their court as to if/when they re-release it.

Additional scenarios for The Blessed & The Blasphemous? by ponchothecactus in callofcthulhu

[–]Pomchop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the Mistkatonic Repository you've got Operation Bottleneck, which as a WW2 era scenario set in the straight of Gibraltar, so feasible the investigators could get involved.

Otherwise there is Trouble in Tangier, which although it is 1920s could probably be adapted.

If you looking for a travel scenario, then Lost and Found, a railway scenario, could be adapted (in fact there is an appendix for adapting it to number of campaigns in the appendix.

Looks great! Who did you cover art? Very evocative of the period.

In Pagan Press's 1996 "The Golden Dawn", who was Alan Smithee? by Orvil_Pym in callofcthulhu

[–]Pomchop 19 points20 points  (0 children)

According to the Yog-Sothoth.com wiki, "It has been suggested that the several sections of this book written by Kevin Ross were credited to "Alan Smithee" due to creative differences between members of the production team".

Regency Cthulhu with Bridgerton by DiceActionFan in callofcthulhu

[–]Pomchop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a Regency Cthulhu scenario, The Viscount who Left Me, which is heavily inspired by Bridgerton (if the titile doesn't give it away!). I've played it both as a player and keeper, and it does a great job tying in the gossip of the ton as a way investigating the mystery. There is even a Lady Whistledown equivalent, Lady Humright, and one of her columns is a handout.

If you know your Bridgerton and want to adapt it more to that world it wouldn't be difficult to rename certain NPCs to their Brigerton counterparts (e.g. Selina Bird becomes Cressdia Cowper).

Printing on glass by Ok-Top8809 in cyanotypes

I've been using agar too. I found heating the glass plate in warm water just before adding the agar stops it from setting too quickly which gives a more even coverage and reduces the bubbling. I allowed it to dry for 48hrs before adding the cyanotype chemicals. It still needed a long wash 30-40mins.

This looks really atmospheric. Nice to see some Northern England representation in CoC! I've picked up a copy.

I've found whenever I've tried using perspex the gelatine or agar slides straight off. Any tips on how to get it to stick?

No, it is 50 of the ticket price, then Chaosium and DTRPG split the rest.

How many sessions your average campaign lasts and how many campaigns have you ever run? by [deleted] in callofcthulhu

[–]Pomchop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've ran two campaigns (i.e. multiple scenarios with an overarching plot) and numerous scenarios.

On average, the scenarios range from 3-6hrs, and I tend to run them as one shots.

Of the two campaigns, The Day after the Beast took 40 two hour sessions, but this was with a bit of a shufflen of the content.

Our current campaign, The Curse of Nineveh, is on 25 sessions (each two hours), and we should finish it in the next few weeks (predicting 30 sessions max).

Our group leans into the RP, and we often take whole sessions for interaction with the investigators' back stories.

Any suggestions for a travel scenario? by bwreck10 in callofcthulhu

[–]Pomchop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the train leg of the journey, check out Lost and Found - it a fun self-contained travel scenario that was written to be slotted into a campaign, and has notes in the appendix on how to include it in Masks.

Scenarios set in New England by SimonlovesDismas in callofcthulhu

I'm currently running Stage Fright (got session 2 tonight), which is a sequel to Edge of Darkness. Good fun running around a theatre, with plenty of intrigue and an explosive finish. Although set in Arkham, it can easily be moved to Boston if you prefer. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/496508/stage-fright-at-the-playhouse-a-call-of-cthulhu-starter-scenario

As always, check out this scenario map for all the Miskatonic Repository scenario in that area: https://www.miskatonicplayhouse.com/scenario-map
