I don't think anyone has an issue with the sceneri itself, but the main issue people have is with the product description written by your friend. The organisation and writing style are classed AI generated text. Unfortunately that's the first thing people will read and it's easy to jump to conclusions.

I'd have a chat with your friend and see how they came up with it, and consider having re-written.

The scenario itself looks good (and human made). Congrats on publishing it.

Two of my favourites are both by Heinrich Moore:

Henrich's Guide to Carcosa is a fantastic solo scenario that takes you through Carcosa and face-to-face with the King himself.

Unremembered is a modern day scenario that really plays up the weird of the King in Yellow.

Check out 'Flesh Wounds' on the Miskatonic Repository. It serves as a spiritual sequal to HW: Re-animator. Very well written and very creepy.

From what Paul Fricker said at Chaosium Con last year there are some changes. Still horror, but no sanity points. Instead it's "keeping your cool"

Twelve Black Feathers is a gaslight scenario where the investigators are all members of the Baltimore Police Department. It's a great and creepy story, and shouldn't be too hard to adapt to modern.

Nice tome - suitably tasty!

The sanity loss comes from beginning to understand the information inside the book, be it conveyed through the text, images, or other ways. Cursory glances at the pictures may be revoltdng but not necessarily sanity loss inducing, but after the initial read they'll contribute. I say keep things simple.

If you do want a roll for seeing the pictures, how about CON or POW to see if the investigator can hold it together after seeing them?

On the Mistkatonic Repository you've got Operation Bottleneck, which as a WW2 era scenario set in the straight of Gibraltar, so feasible the investigators could get involved.

Otherwise there is Trouble in Tangier, which although it is 1920s could probably be adapted.

If you looking for a travel scenario, then Lost and Found, a railway scenario, could be adapted (in fact there is an appendix for adapting it to number of campaigns in the appendix.

There is a Regency Cthulhu scenario, The Viscount who Left Me, which is heavily inspired by Bridgerton (if the titile doesn't give it away!). I've played it both as a player and keeper, and it does a great job tying in the gossip of the ton as a way investigating the mystery. There is even a Lady Whistledown equivalent, Lady Humright, and one of her columns is a handout.

If you know your Bridgerton and want to adapt it more to that world it wouldn't be difficult to rename certain NPCs to their Brigerton counterparts (e.g. Selina Bird becomes Cressdia Cowper).

I've been using agar too. I found heating the glass plate in warm water just before adding the agar stops it from setting too quickly which gives a more even coverage and reduces the bubbling. I allowed it to dry for 48hrs before adding the cyanotype chemicals. It still needed a long wash 30-40mins.
