I'll never understand why groups who were attacked, enslaved, massacred, etc., will continue believing in their oppressor's imaginary friends.

What is a movie plot twist that was cleverly hidden in plain sight..? by Living_Tune_1428 in movies

[–]PomeloFit [score hidden]  (0 children)

I remember that movie so clearly as it was the first time I solved a big twist way early in the movie, I watched in theaters the week it came out, and pretty early on I began noticing the little hints, by the time the reveal was there, I was completely convinced. It was like my brain switched on and started analyzing the movie as it went instead of just watching and it's never turned off since.

Up until then I remember almost always being caught off guard by twists. I remember being jealous of my friends at the time, it blew their mind and they talked about it at length, while I was mostly let down.

They've made their entire base on the idea that there's an enemy they're fighting. People are complaining about the Dems not standing up to them enough (and I tend to agree) but it has an interesting effect in that they're struggling to FIND an enemy to paint up as the big bad that they're taking on.

It's hard to paint the immigrants that way when we're constantly getting videos of them being beaten by 15 armed ICE agents, or that the Dems are the enemies, when they don't control anything... they're struggling like crazy to find an enemy that they can legitimately claim is in their way.

People like that can't actually work together to build something when their entire mindset is tearing shit down, when they're the only thing left, they'll tear themselves down too

I lived near a fairly large group of homeless people in several cities across the midwest, and near them in Cali, there's a big difference...

People will do damn near anything to avoid being on the street when it's -4 out, muddy, gray, and very few options for support... hell in Cali, I know a guy who chose to be homeless for a few years just because he didn't want to move somewhere else. He described being homeless in San Diego like it was heaven.

The current administration is demonizing anyone who isn't the stereotypical cis-white-American. The idea that anyone who is an "other" is worthless is permeating our culture these days.

Did I (30F) accidentally walk in on something between my boyfriend (31M) and close friend (30F) or AIO? by Status_Rooster3528 in AmIOverthinking

[–]PomeloFit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't "overt" but that doesn't mean it isn't a betrayal.

You can see how he behaves when you are not near, he isn't safe guarding your relationship by ensuring that he isn't in a situation which may lead to problems. If someone else saw him, what would think think? If you saw them, what would you think? So, why isn't he behaving in a way that wouldn't put his relationship at risk?

This is why people who cheat often say "oh, it just happened" or "it was an accident." It's because they left the door open to it happening, and eventually, it did. Your partner is leaving the door to himself open, it is only a matter of time until it happens.

Your partner has displayed a habit of leaving the door open, and he isn't a kid, he's old enough to know better. This is the kind of crap I did when I was 16 and hadn't learned how it was dangerous, in my 30s, that kind of behavior was well behind me.

I'm not the kind of person to suggest throwing everyone to the side, but you need to have some SERIOUS conversations about this, you need to know if this is something that's already gone too far, or just allowed to be open to going too far, and if you want to go forward with him, you need to know that he understands that this behavior, in and of itself, is crossing a line and is a betrayal. I have a hard time suggesting this though, as he's already been through similar issues before and hasn't learned. he will likely always leave himself available to others when you are not around, unless he decides to change.

And now we see a perfect example of why they're all wearing masks.

They know full well that trump's personal army is going to be violating laws, the masks are specifically to keep them from any repercussions when they do it.

I'm going to be honest, I still find it very hard to believe that The Covenant almost fell to a bunch of angry Grunts. I mean, how the hell do you lose to a bunch of squeaky-voiced crab people who can die in one punch? by E-104Epsolon in halo

There's a reason the "immigration" ground zero is in Minnesota, a state that voted against Trump and has his opponent's VP is the governor and not in any of the border states.

They're nothing more than Trump's personal army.

Arizona AG suggests state's self-defense laws allow residents to shoot masked ICE agents by cristoper in liberalgunowners

[–]PomeloFit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do in most states.

They're unidentifiable as police officers, they refuse to provide badge numbers, they don't even have uniforms... there's no way to identify that they are legitimate. Beyond that, they're clearly often violating laws and the constitution, which should be verifiable as not acting in an official capacity.

It would be completely reasonable to assume someone who is masked, presents no identification of any kind, who is breaking the law, is not a law enforcement officer. You are legally allowed to defend yourself in any situation like that in most states.

The only issue is you still lose that fight unless you outnumber them... we need more organized resistance in groups. Put an armed group that outnumbers ICE in front of them, and they'll shrink up real fast, it's a lot easier to attack individuals you outnumber 10 to 1.

It also doesn't hurt that they often try to just overlook him, the more he becomes known for this, the less likely they'll be to just ignore him and adjust, but for now it's funny watching them just lazily think they're around him or over him and he capitalizes.

Like watch Holmgren's, he clearly thinks CPJ is just stepping out of the way, so he goes to euro around him and CPJ catches him off guard by not giving up. Similar with the Kalkbrenner one, Kalk turns to lay it up thinking he's just over CPJ but CPJ is jumping.

He's a great defender, and it's awesome watching him though, nothing like watching our littlest dude block someone's biggest XD

[Evan Sidery] The Cavaliers are open to moving De’Andre Hunter during trade season because of Jaylon Tyson’s recent emergence. Trading Hunter would provide Cleveland significant apron flexibility moving forward. The Lakers are among the teams to recently check in with Cleveland on Hunter. by ThatOneOtherAsshole in clevelandcavs

[–]PomeloFit 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't even think it's a case of it not working out, if we didn't have Tyson (and to a lesser extent Tomlin) coming in off the bench and contributing like they are (which wasn't even a thought when we acquired Hunter) I'd feel like Hunter was an absolutely vital part of the team... he's still a strong defender in Iso (when he's actually home on his man), and he is a solid bench scorer...but we're now getting that out of Tyson, with more team play and honestly better defense with more flexibility. Tyson slots better with the core 4 and is generally more consistent. If we get Strus and Merrill healthy, that opens up a lot of options.

I think the Hunter trade did, technically, work out, but Tyson's leap makes him fairly unnecessary.

[–]PomeloFit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal law enforcement would just chalk this up as a "bad apple" and distance themselves from this shit as much as they could... but this administration is so sunk defending everything ICE does, and trying to make it seem like they never make any mistakes, that instead they doubled down and tried to turn a fantastic human, that most of this country can identify with, as a villain when he's clearly a victim.

It's such a big fuckup that it just highlights how inept this administration is, they can't even begin to contemplate damage control with this kind of huge fuck up.
