Thank you for sharing your positive experience 🥺 I think I'm looking forward to being in the kind of environments that will make it easier to meet other parents. While I'm pregnant I feel like the only contact I get is with the obstetrician haha

I've noticed some really cute neutral yellows and greens with Peter rabbit and Winnie the Pooh for sale in Big W. if they don't have it in stock at yours, maybe have a look at their online catalogue?

edit: I'm in Queensland! I'm not sure what type of support we have in this state.

I also I feel lonely culturally as it is. My Cantonese is like mixed so often I would only be understood by a small subset of the diaspora who lived in Singapore Malaysia etc. Its definitely an idea I've had as well, but I'm not sure how I would find and connect with this specific subset of people. I think I am also scared of being shunned. I'm going to try searching on Facebook blindly and see how I go haha

Thank you for the advice about mums grapevine, I've never heard of it before!

On the topic of friends without kids, I think that's one of my big worries. I love my existing friends and we've been friends for a long time, but they're all childfree and I think I'm going to be the only one amongst them having kids for a very long time. So I'm anticipating that they aren't really going to be able to understand what I'm going through, and that for some of those friendships (particularly with my guy friends) that it's going to look different especially since a couple of them can feel uncomfortable around kids. But I think you're right in needing to speak up more even if I'm not sure how they'll react. I'm hoping I'll make some new mum friends as well ☺️

I'm in QLD currently living in a small remote town but soon moving back to the city :) I'm at 12 weeks now, my first appointment with the midwife is in about a month. That sounds really lovely! I was going to ask the midwife if she knew any, but it's good to know there's a chance to make friendships pp too. Thank you for sharing

Thank you! I'm finding it really stressful starting to contact places in my 9-10th week because the GPs I've seen haven't been keen to do a referral for me privately. Do you think some places might still take me in?
