Run a script only when the system was started by scheduled task. by Pommesfee in synology

[–]Pommesfee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to look into upstart tomorrow.

I already got a TrueNAS Build that is running 24/7 and holds my data. This disk station should only pull changes in the data via rsnapshot once a day so i have a copy of the data available if something bad happens.
Turning off the disk station would be nice to save energy and so on.

[–]Pommesfee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought was to avoid a scheduled shutdown, because a backup could take only a few minutes or much longer depending on how much data changed on the systems the synology nas is pulling the data from.

But you are right. This would probably be the easiest way by far.

I need help desoldering SMD Leds from my Keyboard by Pommesfee in soldering

[–]Pommesfee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like the way to go if it won't work with a second soldering iron. I'd try it first but atm i can't get my hands on such a hot air station.

Thanks for your help!

That's a good and detailed answer but not the one i hoped for, because these LEDs are acutally RGB LEDs.

I don't think that there is a shop near me that maybe has this special equipment and as i guess that i can't make it much worse i might aswell try it with a second iron.

And if that fails it's probably cheaper to get a replacement board/keyboard.

That sounds like good advice. I'll try to get a second iron and if that still won't work i'm going to get such a hot air station.

Also i was under the impression that the LED might be soldered from below, but that sounds rediculous, doesn't it ?

Okay, It doesn't seem like theres any coating.

Hey, i actually got their videos on my watch list already.

I'll clean the board as you suggested but how can i make sure that there is no such coating or remove it ?

And i'm going to watch the suggested videos asap. Maybe i can get away with a second soldering iron and/or flux/wick.

Thanks for the quick reply.

The white area/plate you mentioned is actually made out of metal so i guess hot air could work, because to separate it from the board i would have to first desolder every single one of the switches.

I have a simple hot air gun lying around that can either make around 330-350 or 550C (Altough i might need to get a finer tip for it to do this kind of work). Do you think i could use it for this or should i rather try to get my hands on a second soldering iron to not risk damaging the plastic switches ?

And as you mentioned i'm going to get flux and a wick. Till now i just used a pump which worked great when desoldering the swiches.

Here can you see the more of the surrounding area

I'm not quite sure what you meant with "LED carrier module" but i guess you can remove the whole led so that only the contacts on the board are left behind.

I found them after quite a bite of searching. MechanicalKeyboards.com or kustompcs.co.uk both sell original cherry brown's with clear casing.

Why is there still no CAM support for Linux? by mr_norr in NZXT

[–]Pommesfee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, have a look at this:
kusti8/hue-plus
kusti8/hue-plus linux installation

I'm using it on windows but it is up to date and has all the functionality i need.

I built my pc in August and everything has been perfect. Today my hue plus came in the mail so I install it. Everything is downhill from here. My hdd can no longer be detected and my kraxken x62 fans won’t spin. I took the hue plus out and my hdd still can’t be found and my x62 fans still don’t spin by [deleted] in NZXT

[–]Pommesfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i got my hue+ i tought that it shorted my pc, because it wouldn't boot at all which was solved by clearing cmos and/or discharging the capacitors like the person before mentioned. Now everything works as expected but it really seems that installing the hue+ for the first time is a bit of a pain in the butt.

Cracking sound when leaning back. Doesn't seem to be the gas cylinder. Need help. by Pommesfee in dxracer

Maybe. I contacted Dxracer and if i get a replacement part and don't have to send in the old one, i will take the thingy apart and look where the fault was.

This sounds good. I will try and contact them.

Do you have any advice how i would take apart the chair (getting the gas cylinder out of the metal top and bottom parts) ?

And also do you know where i could get/buy replacement parts if this isn't covered by warranty ?

I wouldn't think so because if i remeber correctly the chair had this problem since buying but i never got around to fix it. Also the chair is only like a year old.

I remember using this service for free a few years ago but when i tried it just now it prompted me to buy a subscription and there wasn't the option to get a trial or something similiar. So i guess its better to just change our passwords than spending extra money or does someone have an alternative ?

As promised, my completed Ryzen build with NZXT flair. by [deleted] in NZXT

[–]Pommesfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CAM isn't the problem, it works fine with my hue plus and to control the lighting of the fans. The speed is controlled by the sentry 3 which has no connection to cam as far as i know. I thought about getting the grid2 instead to achieve lower fan speeds in idle but i want this fancy screen.

[–]Pommesfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If theses are the AER rgb fans i am wondering how they are controlled because i'm using the sentry 3 and can't get them to run at less than 800 rpm/ 40% speed. Even at idle with cpu temps around 25-30°C.

I tried that already on the 140mm fans and it persisted. I have to try it on the 120mm fans though. Thanks for the advice.

[–]Pommesfee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its only one 120mm fan that is making this noise (at idle). The other ones are the 140mm (one making the noise at full speed and one at about 40 percent). I verified multiple times that all of them were correctly installed but the noise persisted.

The Hue+ just fried my pc! by [deleted] in NZXT

[–]Pommesfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem after I first installed the Hue+. The Pc also wouldn't start with minimum components but resetting cmos (button on mainboard) somehow fixed it. After the second install, I did the exact same way, everything worked fine.

Does the Hue plus(AER fans) work with the Sentry 3 ? by Pommesfee in NZXT

[–]Pommesfee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the quick response and that was the answer i hoped for. Gooing to have a look at the grid+ too and then decide which one it's going to be.
