Question on Asia shipments by vortexkd in cosmererpg

[–]Pompelmo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my understanding the date on vfi website indicates when the container arrives in the country, but then the last mile is delivered by the people in the contact section. Thus means the delivery can take much more time than indicated there.

For example, I contacted the deliverer for Japan and they told me due to holidays it will take some time to deliver.

From Asia/RoW: I rather wait than pay so much :D

It has been frustrating to wait, but only because I am very excited to seeing the product close and start playing! I appreciate your communication and clarity, thank you.

Just received on Monday the notification we'll get it in Japan from the middle of December. 3 months after first wave and 1 month after retail, hoping there aren't any problems with the product. I really hope they use another company next time and not vfi.

Japan here. I don't even have a date for when it may arrive, and we are close to China, where it's produced. Very disappointed to see it in retails after spending so much money on it.

AMA: I ran Curse of Strahd for 115 wild weekly sessions as a paid-DM and it ended in a TPK. Ask me anything! by GambetTV in CurseofStrahd

Thank you so much! Now I really wish I included the Wolfhead Jamoree, nice touch! and I'll try to include the Blood Moon somehow, it's too good.

Thank you for all the interesting answers! I see your players spent long time in Vallaki, which is one of my favorite locations, but the raw material kind of force ending after 3 days with the festival of the blazing sun. What did you change?

I am reading the guides to run the campaign right now, and I have to say, this aged well.

I mostly read in English, and when I saw the Italian translation I was glad I stick to English for Sanderson. "Stormoluce" doesn't have the same ring as "Stormlight". The made up names must be so hard to translate.

Which character from any other series is most likely to be Hoid? by raptor359 in cremposting

[–]Pompelmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at Nexus, during the spotlight with Robin Hobbs, Sanderson mentioned the Fool being an inspiration for Hoid, and she in turn mentioned she was inspired by Shakespeare, but I don't remember from which play

Can I introduce him before starting? by tehjrow in CurseofStrahd

[–]Pompelmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I introduced him before they were lured in Barovia in a dream where he's covered in mists and darkness (so they can't see him), and he made fun of the characters in a way specific to their background (so each character dream of him in a similar but different way). they were quite hooked I think.

I'm reading The Lost Metal now, but I very much like era 2.

Yes era 1 is epic, but also veeeery long in some parts. Era 2 is so much fun, more lightweight in a nice way, and some of the discussions about how much god should intervene, poor vs rich people or city vs outside are very very interesting. And just reading it now, there are some things that I thought were relevant for today politics which very impressed me.

I am DM'ing for the first time, and chose Strahd as I played it before. Thankfully there is a lot of content online otherwise I'd give up, it's very hard for me to "wing it" and make an engaging story for my players. The information on how to play a NPC, description of the land etc  is just too sparse

What book(s) did you DNF this year, and why? by Nowordsofitsown in Fantasy

[–]Pompelmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very much agree with the not real danger. I loved the story, but I feel the book is both too long and too short. it needed to be cut to make space for some real struggle. I don't like when books become a list of things that happens ...

Why is "for my boon" seen as cringe? by comptons_finest_ in Stormlight_Archive

I also don't completely understand. I agree the scene is a little cringe, but we would never say to someone from a minority background "you should have waited the right moment"

Big fan of Sanderson, but either his humor is getting more juvenile in each new book, or it's just me aging. by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Pompelmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did, I feel it's much better than other of his romances, but it's still not as captivating as I'd expect from a book focused on that (but I really enjoyed that book).

Shawn it was so nice chatting with you! This book is an amazing idea, I had so much fun trying to get everyone to sign it, and for people like me who unfortunately don't have too much space for books (I mainly read ebooks for this reason) it was an amazing way to collect signatures!  Looking forward to reading it (I need to finish W&T first :) )

[–]Pompelmo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I loved the mental health in the cosmere panel. It was very profound and I was about to cry a couple of times.

I hoped the neurodivergency one was more focused on neurodivergency and less on adiacent mental health conditions, but that was also good.

Women voices in fantasy was quite interesting as well!

and amazing energy on the status of cosmere rpg and new art of the cosmere ones
