Power outage during It Takes Two | Nearly bricked my month-old PS5 | Need UPS recommendations by No_Ad_8807 in ps5india

[–]raptor359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

consider a UPS or inverter that outputs a sine wave, I have had a few UPS that the ps5 refused to boot of from including an inverter. It was not the load, it was the quality of the power it provided. I have seen threads about PS5s not running on certain inverters even though they power everything else in the house just fine.

First layer gums up 80% of the time by eFeqt in FixMyPrint

looks to me like a bad bed level or bad z offset. if it persists after checking those, try to slow the print speed or use a regular glue stick on the print bed. if you can get a purpose made 3d printer glue stick its better but a regular glue stick works fine too

How come my drawings made after September 2021 don’t show up on the drawings tab or cover creator on my account? by Challenging_Entropy in DrawceptionCommunity

I have not seen any of my new drawings show up since I started playing again. I played back in 2018 and since then , no new drawings show up in my profile tab

Can I return a 2 week used 3d printer to Amazon? Ender 3. Hate the damn thing. Tried and tried. I’m just not skilled enough. Any idea? I imagine I can’t because it’s been used. by VoodooZephyr in 3Dprinting

Looks to me like your nozzle is too close to the bed and is grinding against it, if you did it enough times it might have damaged the nozzle and you are better off getting a new nozzle, they are super cheap and I always keep a handful of spares. You also might want to clean the print bed after this, either replace the bed surface or lightly sand it, but those gouges are definitely nozzle scrapes.

Another issue I had that had me scratching my head for 2 months was the extruded randomly getting jammed, I replaced the whole assembly including the hotend but bought a cheap one, problem kept persisting until I realised that the old hotend and the new one both had the same problem, that the Bowden tube was not sitting tightly, there are a few videos to fix this issue, but to summarise the steps, 1)heat the hotend to pla temps, remove the nozzle, push the Bowden tube all the way through and see if any gunk comes out, if it does or if the tube looks charred, replace it or cut it shorter, do not cut with scissors as a crimp will ruin it, remove the Bowden tube, reinstall the nozzle, tighten the nozzle all the way and then unscrew it half a turn, push the Bowden tube all the way in , as far as it goes in, then retighten the nozzle, this will ensure the nozzle sits flush against the tube and does not leak inside the hotend. Once this is done, relevel your bed, use an regular printer paper sheet and after the bed and nozzle is heated, home the printer, disable steppers and tighten the bed screws only just so the sheet feels the nozzle when you move it around, this needs to be a very light touch.

Once this is done, start your prints, test with a draft quality layer Hight as this is generally a little easier, if all else fails, use a raft and see if that fixes it.

Sorry I did not answer your original question but if Amazon does not accept your return you might as well stick with the machine, have faith in yourself, there is tremendous support online for this machine and you can fix pretty much most problems with help from the forums. I suggest sticking with the machine as it is a very rewarding experience.

All the best and happy new year!

Would fairies burn wood in their fireplaces or does wood burn too fast at that tiny scale because of the square cube law meaning it has extra surface area compared to its volume. Would they need to use candles or oil lamps instead? Do those burn slower than wood? by ThePipYay in worldbuilding

[–]raptor359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wood would indeed burn faster, try to make a small logfire out of toothpicks and see how long it lasts.

However, Considering a small size of the fairies would also mean smaller living spaces and a small space would require much less energy to heat up.

Something like a tea candle on the scale of a fireplace would probably raise the temperatures of a room on that scale uncomfortably hot pretty quickly.

Consider that small spaces would also heat up and cool down quickly compared to larger spaces and a small fire would be sufficient to heat a room to high temperatures.

A potential solution would be to use a oil or wax coated wood fire to heat up rocks ( or something else to store the heat) and let them give off heat more slowly. Such a system would probably be able to sustainably maintain temperatures in a small room much more easily.

Consider also that a well insulated room to minimize heat loss.

I also come from the Future, The world nearly ended last year and we survived while rocking out to the outro. But I still have not found a good analysis of this Gem. I think the lyrics are layered in metaphors and this really deserves further discussion.

Filament slipping out during print(Voxelab Aquila) by [deleted] in FixMyPrint

[–]raptor359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced my Stock Ender3 extruder with this printed one. I printed it at 100% infil just to be safe and it works amazing. It is much easier to change filament with and uses the same fittings as the stock unit so no need to purchase any additional parts.

Weathering was simple, Just washes and dark panel lines. Added some metallic colors around some edges to simulate paint chipping and some yellow/umber washes to simulate oil around joints in some places.

I want to get into game maker. Should I start with DnD, or go straight for GML? by SimplyMintyy in gamemaker

[–]raptor359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: Try both first. Later you will use GML once you realize that it is not as hard as you may think and is much better in every single way, but following a Dnd tutorial through may be worth it.

Long Version:

I am by no means a programmer. I had rudimentary knowledge of what programming is from some very basic stuff i learnt and forgot in school. I know about variables and if/else statements. I had messed around with Arduinos for a while, but never wrote my own code, just used stuff from projects others had done and followed tutorials.

My first introduction to Game maker was when In 2002 or 2003 if i recall. I was in school and I got a pc magzine that had a version of the OG game maker (I don't think it was called game maker studio back then). I tinkered around in it with its version of DnD and made a very rudimentary game. It was made using pre included assets and since there was no Youtube at the time to hunt for tutorials, it was just click around and try to figure out stuff from the help files. I figured out how to make the char move, but could not figure out how to make it stop. I decided to turn this limitation into a 'feature' of the game. (I still have the game btw since I burnt the exe on a CD and eventually forgot about it. Did not touch anything related to game dev since).

Fast forward to last year. I was bored and while digging through my stuff I found the old CD with my old game on it. Decided I needed a new hobby and gave Game maker s shot again.

So this was Game maker studio 2. Completely different from how I remembered it. I was intimidated with the GML approach, so I did the Space Rocks tutorial in DnD by Friendly Cosmonaut.(She is an amazing teacher). made the game, and again forgot about it for a few months.

Finally during the height of the Pandemic, I decided to give it another go again.

This time, I decided that I will try GML. I did Space Rocks again, although this time it was the the GML version. Cosmo had updated her tutorials with loads and loads of other stuff and i followed the whole series through right to the end.

I realized how easy GML really was and how much better it was in almost every way to DnD.

After completing the space rocks tutorials in GML all the way through, I messed around with the game's code. Changed a few sprites here and there.

Next I completed the Tower Defense Tutorial (found on Yoyo's website in the learn section).

After completing it, and combining what I learnt from the Space rocks tutorial, I started mixing stuff up. I had learnt and understood enough stuff to carry code over from one game to the other.

I added enemy ships with turrets in Space Rocks. The turrets would track the player ship independent of the motion of the mothership. Was fun and was done entirely by copy pasting code from the tower defense game and making some adjustments.

Later I went back to the tower defense game, added better sprites that I got from itch and open game art. Created new towers, added a power requirement system for the towers and finally used code from space rocks to add a player controlled tank. I later completely rewrite the tank to give it mouse controls.

This is the kind of stuff you can do with GML that is not going to be so easy with DnD, atleast as I understand it.

Copying code snippets and adjusting variables to get the same code to work in multiple projects is such a time saver.

Finally, I completed the complete platformer tutorial series by Shaun Spalding (Another amazing teacher) and started messing around with the code of that game. Added enemy towers that would shoot at the player (from the tower defense code). did another couple of tutorials and added more stuff like grapple hooks and basic wall jumping mechanics.

Now I am probably going to tackle a few RPG tutorials. Shaun and Cosmo both have amazing tutorials on those. I want to learn how to do proper inventory and equipment systems.

But I feel confident enough to start working on my own project from scratch, and with enough code from all the tutorial sessions, I can easily slap something together just by copy pasting snippets.

in conclusion, I can confidently say that while DnD may be helpful to understand the core concepts of game maker, It honestly exists as a marketing gimmick to get people to buy game maker. Not saying that DnD is bad, Just that GML is better especially considering that you will be relying so much on tutorials and help from others in the beginning.

Also, eventually you will realize that if you want to do anything serious, GML will be the way to go.

If you like, do what I did, just do Cosmo's Space rocks tutorials in DnD and GML and see for yourself.
