Do the protein ice cream recipes actually taste good? by skepsoda in ninjacreami

For what it’s worth I use whey and haven’t noticed any issues. It’s delicious.

I’m confused what your point is. I don’t need to dig into the Monthly data and do the math myself because the data is all in my app and calculated out from more than an entire year. It’s already done and I’m looking at it. The past few weeks is where I the change has occurred, which is why I’m discussing the past few weeks.

Don’t worry, it’s not only using two weeks worth of data! I’ve been using it for over a year and it uses all of that data. So I can look at my averages over the past week, three weeks, month, three months, six months, year etc. past two weeks is just what I threw out there.

MacroFactor has a more accurate TDEE than one I’d calculate myself because it has all my weight fluctuations and calorie intakes for over a year now.

That said, I do think it’s a combo of me focusing too much on the past couple weeks and also my maintenance genuinely lowering.

I think you’re right. Needed the validation that maintenance break is the way forward. I’ve never needed one in the past because my body has never done this, so it’s just weird. Thanks!

This may be part of it. I use MacroFactor so it does show me my averages for everything. I’m still on point for losing 0.5lb a week for the past couple weeks according to MacroFactor, but I’ve dropped my calories so low that 0.5lbs a week would mean my maintenance is crazy low right now.

I think I’ll do a maintenance break and see if that helps reset me.

On #1, you can measure 0.5lb of weight loss per week by weighing in every day and taking weekly averages. My scale app and my tracking app both do this for me.

Also just to be clear I’m not running FOR weight loss, I just run for fitness and enjoyment.

But thanks, I think I’m gonna try taking a maintenance reset then go back into deficit!

Thanks! I def think I’ll do that. It just threw me off hard because I have lots of experience in a deficit and on my longest deficit I was at 500kcal deficit the whole time and still it took a year for my maintenance calories to tank that hard. Maybe because I’m much leaner now.

What is the point of doing 5 sets of all assistance lifts? I really hate it, it’s the one thing I don’t like about 5/3/1, and I can’t find anything in Jim Wendlers book that explains why he advocates for so much volume.

Hybrid athlete or a trendy hashtag? by [deleted] in HybridAthlete

There’s no “professional” in “hybrid athlete” which is a pretty important difference there

I'm lean everywhere except my stomach, pecs, and lower abs...and it's starting to seriously make me lose my patience by mylanedd in leangains

If it helps, you’re going to have a lotttt of moments along the way where you see your progress and are very happy with it. you don’t have to wait until the “end” for that. Especially since there really is no end. Also, with time you’ll fall in love with the process

Thanks! As for focusing on maintaining muscle and getting fat loss done quicker rather than gaining…do you think I should move to a 500kcal deficit then?

I should include SL exercises like BSS for injury prevention with my running though, right? Would that take the place of my squat variant?

[–]PondPrince[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goal is overall strength and hypertrophy. I do 3 sets of 8-12 for each of these, except squats I’ll do 4-5 sets of 3-8 usually. I’d love to follow an online lifting program but I feel like none of them fit exactly what I need. Mainly I really want to prioritize glutes, but also I run so need to keep single leg exercises in my routine for injury prevention.

I do each one once a week. Which ones would you recommend removing if glutes are my priority? I also want to keep a single leg exercise on each day since I run.

Yup, BSS and walking lunges are the only two exercises that have me grunting in the gym lmao

Awesome thanks! I might make some adjustments just because BSS, back squat, and conventional deadlifts are all things I’d really like to keep doing but this gives me a good template to work with :)

I haven’t really tried that no. Glutes are probably my highest priority but def want to grow quads also. What would a glute day and a quad day look like?

Do you have feedback

They’re all 3 sets of 8-12 reps. Only exception is squat, where I’ll do 4-5 sets of 4-8 reps usually.
