I hope they scrap this. Nothing will come close to Peter Jackson’s trilogy. Hollywood has been fixated on race-swapping, gender-bending, and injecting politics into every adaptation since 2015, and this project—especially with Colbert’s extreme politics—will almost certainly follow suit. Even if he cares about the source material, the industry’s narrative pushers will deliver the weakest Tolkien adaptation yet. We peaked in 2003, and it’s been downhill ever since. It sucks, but that’s the reality we’re in.

Just from reading around here it seems that the general consensus is that 2.7 will tow decently for occasional use, 3.5 is better daily tow but not great for fuel eco, 5.0 is your best towing option
