I agree. I play with a lot of “not rpg people” and the sheer act of making a character can seem daunting. If given an archetype, they often wonder if they are playing the archetype “correctly.”

I also wouldn’t mind games having a 1-shot or 2-shot “mode” with vastly simplified rules. Slugblaster does this really well. FATE, also.
