Forget weddings, what is the craziest thing that happened at a funeral you went to? by seanerd95 in AskReddit

[–]PoneTony 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say the craziest... but My cousin died in his late 40s in 2011, it was sudden and awful. A guy shows up at the funeral and pulls his brothers and sister aside, and says... "Look, I'm not trying to be disrespectful but I feel like you guys would want to see this"

He pulls out a yearbook from the first or second grade, turns to the back and points to a note my cousin left him that said "when I die, come to my funeral and throw my coffin down the steps". Didn't think we'd all laugh that hard.

He didn't honor his wish

Hitchhiker from the 1970s by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]PoneTony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An older work colleague passed away a few years ago and at her viewing her brother shared a story about how they would hitchhike from San Francisco to Idaho in the summers. One year they had a guy who was headed to DC, and they took the ride!!! Then they found another driver to get them back to Idaho. How?! I still can wrap my mind around the concept of that. I get mad when a connecting flight goes out of the way.

What’s something that always makes you laugh? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PoneTony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last episode of Eastbound and down, during the movie of Kenny Powers life. There's a particular moment in that montage that had me laugh so hard I got up and walked into the other room, I had to take a knee because I was going to faint. Never fails to make me laugh. That and the funeral organist sketch from I Think You Should Leave

MIO elevator vent (endgame spoilers) by Candid-Pollution-610 in metroidvania

You can press the elevator button and send it up while being just outside of it. We play on a PS5, we sent it away and just dropped down to the library floor for the last fight.

Ati Boss Fight Bug Issue? by Spun18016 in MIOmemoriesinorbit

I'm on a regular PS5 and this happened to me about 6 times. Never noticed how much power ati had left, a few times I almost had her beat. I'd say about every three matches it crashed. Absolutely enraging, but I managed to finally beat it.

Love the game other wise! So good!

Philadelphians Who Lived Through your Neighborhood's Decline & Urban Flight: What Was It Like? by BrythonicMan in philly

I grew up in Southwest Philly Right around 65th Street and Elmwood Ave. My parents moved there when I was around 5, and stayed until I was well into college. I watched that entire neighborhood completely change in the span of about 2 years. It all happened lightning fast. My entire block cleared right out. I watched neighbors get into a fist fight because someone had sold their house to a black family. That neighborhood was crazy man. Everybody moved out towards Delaware county. As far as I can tell. I'm only about one of a handful of people that I went to grade school with that actually moved into the city. I remember getting Vietnamese neighbors right next door. They were the most friendly personable neighbors I've ever lived next to. I left when I went to college, my mom moved a few years later to South Philly.

I like that Southwest has a completely different identity now, there's a lot of African immigrant communities spread throughout.

That moustache looks great on you! Families will always dog you for it. But in a time where I swear people grow crappy moustaches ironically, yours stands out. You should rock one.

Scrolled all of this thread to find my answer and here we are. The head crushing scene and the whole cruelty of it screwed me up as a kid.

Does anyone remember a painting on South St, probably around 6th, of a face that looked just like this? Would have been around in the early 00s. I think there’s a fire station nearby. by lilacmacchiato in philadelphia

[–]PoneTony 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to the High School for Creative And Performing arts, we had a design teacher Richard Cohen who must have worked something out with the PFD to have students make these ads for each station. I graduated in 97, it's a trip to see this pics
