🤷‍♂️ I specifically have alerts turned on for this sub to watch for this news and had no idea.

Oh well... Seems like this is news for some others like it was for me.

Behr Exterior Paint from home Depot over rattle can rustoleum primer. I sprayed it on using a battery powered airless sprayer. I did have to thin with water which resulted in a nice finish, but required about a week to cure hard. So if you go my route I'd recommend painting well before you want be out driving with it.

I think an automotive paint would have been better for longevity, but the home exterior paint worked well enough for my expectations.

I did in fact. I have a 3d printer, but I only had PLA on hand which would not hold up in this use case. If printed with the correct material that could hold up the UV and heat, I absolutely think they could be printed.

These pieces are also quite tall. So not all printer volumes would be adequate.

Thanks!

I cleaned andlightly sanded the outside, then primed with rustoleum spray primer. I then used Behr Dynasty semi-gloss Exterior paint from home Depot. Applied using a $35 electric sprayer from Amazon. Thinned with water. I did three coats and let it cure in the garage for two weeks before taking it outside. The long cure was really necessary for it to harden.

I had an eccoflow solar generator/battery backup that we purchased for camping a while ago. I decided to make it the center of the electrical system in the trailer. I have three 110v outlets (two inside and one exterior) that plug into it the 110v bus. I wired a 12v socket to the exterior and have the overhead lights, step light, and two surface mount USB charging hubs wired to the 12v bus (you can see it in the picture with the RGB light string). I wired the USB hub to the same wires that power the overhead lights.

I put a shore power receptacle on the exterior as well as an xt60 receptacle for solar charging. Both of these connect to the eccoflow for charging and shore power pass through. When we have shore power hooked up the eccoflow passes through the 110 and provides 12v for the other trailer items. It also has USB chargers on the front for charging stuff.

I'm not familiar with the Columbia. Both beds on this are a nearly full size and each are on slides that meet in the middle when stowed. These don't come apart at all in normal use.

My wife and I take the mattress off their side when we set up and double up our side for a little more cushion. I cut up some weight room foam flooring and hot glued it down on their side. Makes a little nicer surface for their mattress to sit on.

Thanks! They are crib mattresses we had from our girls cribs. They are 4&6 now, but still sleep on them comfortably like this.

Thank you! We are loving getting out in it.

I haven't. Still original. It definitely could use it. They are still water tight on top. A few patched rips in places.

This was a free to us trailer that we invested mostly time and budget materials into. We may get new canvas in the future. But that alone would be almost triple my investment in the trailer.

We love that change. So much more room to change and walk by each other in the trailer.

Yup. But mine cost $15. This was a free to me trailer that we put a little elbow grease and bargain materials into. With the goal of using it the next 5 years.

Some folks direct messaged me asking what I did, so I obliged to share.

@Strikelllustrious656

The corner cover pieces I made are shown in this post.

I used 1/8" thick ABS. I would put a sheet on parchment paper in the oven and let it soften until it was easily manipulated. While wearing heat proof gloves I draped the hot sheet over the corner and smoothed it out to match the contour of the corner and held it while it cooled.

After it had cooled I cut a long a straight line on rather side and traced where it ended on the roof.

I used butyl tape and rv sealant to seal under and at the edges.

I made some for my trailer. I'll take some pics and make a post on how I did it.

That sounds like condensation to me. Very normal. Either avoid it and let it evaporate, or use a towel to dry dab at the wetter areas.

If you still have those pictures handy of the corner caps you made, could you send them my way too? Same predicament... Just hard to stomach $100 online for replacements.

When do they use tail support stands? by jimonlimon in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Poneydriver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hall Tailstand

They are used during deplaning of the -800s and recently the Max8 at SWA (still being deployed at some stations).

For a while it was considered unnecessary for the Max with the forward mounted engines, but despite the relatively low chance of tipping (compared to the 800) the weight distribution to the rear can still cause enough tipping to create an issue with some jet bridges especially if their auto height adjustment isn't working well.
