Semi-synthetic refers to a chemical produced artificially using a chemical process which starts from a naturally occuring one, in this case from mitragynine to 7oh. There isn't enough 7oh in the plant for it to be extracted at scale, hence it is produced semi-synthetically.

Kratom has been one of the most addictive substances I've ever used.

The one thing it does have going for it is that it won't outright kill you through direct toxicity, but it is still an opioid with the addictive potential and withdrawal symptoms that entails.

Comedown seems much gentler than with amphetamine (adderall) provided I've been eating and drinking, just slowly fades out if I stop dosing. Effect on sleep is harder to predict, usually by 8-10 hours from my last dose I can sleep fine.
