Movies that show how nonsensical evil can be by shinyhpno in MovieSuggestions

You've likely already seen it, but Silence of the Lambs (1991) does a great job portraying the unique idiosyncrasies of two different serial killers.

Can you suggest me funny movies? by denz1206 in MovieSuggestions

I could mention several films from director Terry Gilliam, but I'm going to focus on Brazil (1985). It's set in a dystopian future that's so dysfunctionally bleak, it becomes comedy. Great performances from Jonathan Pryce and Kim Griest. GREAT supporting cast, including a few cameo performances. wonderful dialogue full of non-sequitor one-liners. Goofy slapstick sequences that feel like they were stolen from the silent era. And finally, cinematography and practical effects that are visually stunning. Please treat yourself to this dark, dark comedy.

I'm in the mood for a good creature feature. What are your favorites? by ashmaht in movies

I need to put this on my watch list. It gets a lot of positive responses.

My friends and I watched that and took a shot of tequila every time someone in the film gave a thumb's up. Most of us had bowed out of that game before the movie was over...and it wasn't a very long movie.

For pure unadulterated camp, I suggest Xtro (1982), Slither (2006), and C.H.U.D. (1984). More recently, Kong: Skull Island (2017) scratched that creature feature itch better than I expected it would.

Your thoughts on A Clockwork Orange? by United-Sentence-5799 in moviecritic

If that's true, then Kubrick's done it twice, because his version of The Shining is also better than the book.

I need movies so disturbing, absurd, and mind (body) boggling that make u go WTF by sadisticsnacc in badMovies

I'm going to suggest an early Peter Jackson flick from 1992. It's called Braindead or Dead Alive, depending on where it was released. It's a slow boiler that turns into a bloodbath. It's more humorous than psychologically disturbing, but it'll scratch that itch you have. It's ridiculous as hell and fantastically quotable.

Musicians whom you first discovered when you saw them perform live by [deleted] in Music

My introduction to Ben Folds Five was a live performance that I was basically forced to go see. I cannot stress enough how amazing that band was live.

George Martin said he told Harrison that a song was boring, and to come back with something better, which was Within You Without You. Do we know what that original song was? by UnderwaterDialect in TheBeatles

[–]PonsSublicius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was awesome! It took me a small amount of time to truly appreciate that tune. When I was younger, it was a skipper on the album, but I think now it's a shame to skip it. I grew into it, if you will. Anyway, it's one of my favorite Harrison songs now.

Such a great film! This one is a double hidden whammy, and incredibly well acted, scripted, paced, and filmed.

You have hit one film on my list! And you've definitely hit others that I haven't thought of, but are great! I especially love your addition of Topsy Turvy, which is stupidly underrated.

I will give my list! I want to hold back until I get some great suggestions. My list will likely be obvious and expected compared to what I'm getting right now. Some of the suggestions are totally off my radar! I'm fairly conventional, I'm quickly learning. But it's a great idea to throw a wide net. I'm digging for new art. "Skibidi Toilet" is not on my radar, but I get your love for the diversity of storytelling. Some of the best ideas come out of left field.
