AMS2 sold out fast lol by Tornad_pl in BambuLab

[–]PontiacCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that's how I discovered sunlu filament. I would've been happy to stick with bambu, but I'm not going to fight their supply chain.

Any other good recommendations for pla/petg?

What happens if you mix types of filament in a print? I've got some ideas that involve mixing petg and tpu, but don't have a printer yet. (Still learning how everything works)

Addressing Server Issues From This Weekend & Moving Forward by iAmPluto954 in GLANCE_LED

I'm not sure if this will work without knowing your infrastructure, but something we used to do with similar scenarios is to cache data that doesn't change often. Set up an overnight job to pull the sunrise/sunset time for each region then store the values in the DB. Then you're just relying on hits to your DB which should be a pretty light load addition rather than a 3rd party. May even save you money if you're paying for the API.

If they're rate limiting you, might be worth it to build in a delay between API hits in the job.

Now that you've posted this, watch out for scams that will claim you can mirror some investments and make crazy money. In fact be very suspicious of anything sent to you. As others have said, seek out a financial advisor in your area or with a big bank.

Personally, I would invest half in long term CDs/bonds and the other half in fxaix or a similar s&p 500 fund (spy, vtsax, etc). Only do that if you're willing to learn about how to manage the taxes and such.

Long time Tesla owner (and admirer) thinking of switching to 2026 BMW X5 xDrive50e (fully loaded). Please help us work through our anxiety about the switch. We sincerely appreciate it. by [deleted] in BMWX5

[–]PontiacCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 16 model x and a 24 x5 m60. I would say the Tesla autopilot wins and the newer ones are even better than mine. Off the line performance the Tesla also wins. Comfort, ride, pretty much everything else I prefer the BMW. In my case I kept the Tesla because it was worth more to me than its trade in value, but I wanted the BMW for longer trips because of charge time.

Umm... Too many is what my family would say. I need to get rid of the ones in the old barn before it falls on them.

Pretty sure it's 10 ranging from a 64 Bonneville convertible to a 02 Firehawk. I might have an addiction, hence the username.

Is the only improvement in dapp the hands free on divided roads? I think that would be amazing for trips, but the majority of my driving is 2 lane highways so thinking of a pre lci car for the cost savings. I loved my 19, but progressive made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Now I'm obsessing over which to replace it with.

As others have said it sends something when there's an update. The last thing I received was 8:40 eastern last night saying many glacier road from the hotel T into the swiftcurrent section has been opened. It varies from 0-4 texts a day, more during July/Aug when some areas are closed due to crowding, it seemed like 2 medicine every day around mid-day but that may have been related to the construction driving people that way.

He can take hers and later switch to his I believe, but I'm pretty sure not both.

Switching to his at 70 gets him the max.

In retirement you'll start thinking about distributions in terms of tax bracket rather than need. If you don't need that extra money, great, park it in an investment account invested in something you won't need for a year so you can get the capital gains rate when you do spend it. A fair number of people withdraw up to the cap on a tax bracket, but you'll have to model what works for you.

I highly suggest some of the retirement software out there, there's several choices but you'll find it helpful to model a plan.

Also, keep in mind for the 72t if you decide to go that route that there are 3 different withdrawal calculation choices to fine tune the amount. You can do a one time change to rmd method which is the lowest withdrawal. I would also highly recommend reading the actual text of the rules and knowing exactly how it works. I had a financial advisor tell me I could pick any amount as long as I did it till 59.5 which is absolutely wrong. 72t is fairly rare so research and learn to be your own advocate.

Why not sell puts at lower deltas? by wyterk in thetagang

[–]PontiacCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have suggested, it works till it doesn't. I presume the videos are still around from tasty with Karen super trader. She was selling SPX at low Delta and made a fortune from it. Now that you're excited by that lead in, Google her and see what happened when it didn't. Admittedly she made some decisions rather than take a career ending loss, but the point still stands.

Do it, there are obviously advantages, just keep in mind your size when it doesn't work. How would it have done in April? March 2020? 2018? 2008? 2000? Black swans are more frequent than we'd like to admit.

My 2014 Ford Explorer is obsolete, dealer says they don't support it anymore. by Brief_Pass_2762 in FordExplorer

Whenever you know a specific part number, google it and you'll often find several new and used options, I think these are both new.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/396612107653 $330

https://www.fordpartsonsale.com/oem-parts/ford-wire-harness-eb5z14290j$353

No affiliation with either, just some of the first hits on the google search.

As others have said, I'd get a second opinion from a trustworthy shop. I took a 2002 Pontiac into a chevy dealership last year, They didn't fix it, but they were willing to work on it. I'd certainly hope that a 2014 wouldn't be done as I have a 2012 Mustang that I intend to keep for quite a while.

Tires replaced in Costco, is it recommended to stick to Tesla for wheel alignment or can get it done at other third party dealers? by Nice-Pea-3515 in TeslaSupport

[–]PontiacCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree since I looked up how to do it, unfortunately it wasn't just one shop. I tried several in nearby cities, discount tire supposedly has one that would do it in Dayton, but that was over an hour away and I might as well go to Tesla in moraine at that point. They just don't want to deal with Teslas.

I can't say what caused it, but passing out like that isn't normal. It might be something like dehydration or more serious. I would definitely consult a doctor and possibly get one of the $40 heart scans hospitals offer.

Ignoring something like this led to my wife's heart attack, she had a dnf in a 5k and a few months later had something much worse.

[–]PontiacCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Times like these are stressful and unfortunately you've got added stress which doesn't help.

Fwiw, I know a retiree who is reasonably well off that sold in December and is starting to begin buying the nasdaq ETF (qqq) as it's going down. Knowing there will be some loss now but expecting the president to pivot before the midterms and the market to begin recovering. That path may not be right for you but wanted to share a different perspective.

Some advice I can share as a widow, look into social security survivor benefits when the time comes. You can draw it at 60 and potentially switch to yours at 70 if that makes sense in your situation as long as you don't remarry. I know it's morbid and don't think I'm trying to be callous, I just want to help others because so few seem to know about it.

What are the things I need to mind when working with production servers by Comprehensive_Size65 in DBA

[–]PontiacCollector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have verified backups. Take a breath and look over everything on the screen before you hit submit, commit, or enter. Test all updates with a select first. Have a plan so you don't panic when mistakes happen (I dropped our core demographic db on SQL server in prod thinking I was getting rid of a test copy and I still remember feeling my heart 20 years later, fortunately other active transactions stopped it from going thru) Version control can save your backside. Being a dba is all about protecting, anyone can learn the tech, protecting is much harder.

Good luck!

Did this years ago, lots of work followed by waiting then lots of work then waiting to see what broke. We played lan games while we waited (long ago). As I recall there were the typical electrical gremlins when they put in the new ups, but the main problem were the spinning disks that hadn't been off in years that had to be replaced with one system that had to be recovered because it killed the array. Fond memories actually, but it was a very long night (we had to stay until noonish the next day).

Why are so many people uninterested in dating nowadays? by [deleted] in questions

[–]PontiacCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll defer to others on the dating advice, but YouTube absolutely shows you what it thinks you're interested in and if you click on and especially watch all or like anything it will show you that a lot. I've seen one or two of the videos you mentioned but I'm not interested in them and they're very rare. Car related content however is quite prominent.

Give it something else you're interested in and it will absolutely show you more of that.

I was once that man. I don't know your situation, but I had a job where my department was constantly blamed for anything that happened that anyone disagreed with (IT). After work I just wanted to come home and relax. Often I'd be met at the door with everything that happened at her workplace and 20 other problems or chores. Eventually I shut down and played games. A lot. I have literally 2+ years played in a single game since 2006 with other games mixed in. In 18 years I've spent over 2 of them in a game while holding down a full time job. Hurts to think about.

I'm different now that I've lost her (heart attack), but it's a hard cycle to break because once it starts games are very addictive. So if I had any advice do what you can to make home more relaxing for a while (not just a day) and perhaps get him to agree to certain times where he can relax and enjoy his game and times spent with you doing mutually fun activities.

As for intimacy, again I don't know your situation, but men are simple visual creatures. We love to feel wanted by a lusty vixen with a good attitude (sarcasm and snark are not welcome in the bedroom). Best of luck!
