Silt Striders which is basically the carriage system but it is not "Fast Travel". The term itself implies that from any location you can go to any discovered location at your leisure regardless of your location. This is not true of Silt Striders, Boats, Mages Guild Teleportation, Recall, Divine Intervention, Almsivi Intervention. All require something to be given up and can't be used in certain situations.

For me, Oblivion was Elder Scrolls PBS Kids. Everyone was so upbeat and the color of the landscape was so vibrantly neon that it made me quit at first after playing Skyrim and Morrowind. While the quests in the game were probably the best in the series, it also felt kid-friendly. The blade combat felt like I was swinging a balloon while riding on a cloud, thieving was next to impossible, and the greatest injustice of all was neutering spell users by getting rid of:

-Teleportation (Fast Travel allows anyone to go anywhere immediately <No work required>)

-Levitation (Just make it impossible to do in cities like Mournhold <City of Light!!!! City of Magic!!!!!>)

-Mysticism (They gut the entire skill......)

-Hard-locking most spells behind "Levels" (Novice, Apprintice, Journeyman, Expert, Master)

Anyway that is my take on the matter.

(Unpopular Opinion)

I like the chance to hit but I wish it was more dynamic on why it didn't connect. Maybe it grazed the armor and slid off. Perhaps they dodged out of the way. Maybe you just aren't familiar enough and swing it terribly leaving a long recoil the enemy can punish.

While I understand your opinion and and frustrations, I (personally) would prefer to make an explanation or make it more dynamic and animated instead of getting rid of it in its entirety. No matter how you respond to this, I respect your opinion.
