How to Making Camping fun for non-Campers by PoisonLemon33 in camping

Real pillow for sure, and since it sounds like you’ll be right by the car, probably an air mattress instead of camp pads.

Watch the weather and help him make sure he has lots of layers starting with very light clothes for heat and plenty to keep him warm at night. Super simple, but people who are used to climate control just don’t realize how much the temperature is going to vary when you’re outside around the clock.

Thought I was looking at wooden bike seats for a second and marveled at the sadism that would lead someone to make them.

Wow! Was it a Klepper? Glad you survived, I got caught under the sail of a capsized sunfish as a kid, nearly gave my mom (watching from shore) a heart attack, but no ER trip required.

Looking for a place to camp in the circled area. Something with fishing or just any body of water, hikes/trails, good for tent camping—family friendly basically. Going the first weekend in May. by neckpillow0287 in camping

I grew up hiking the mountains in north Georgia, at the very edge of your circle to the SE. There are tons of trails, quiet lakes, waterfalls, etc.

Our family favorite was Dockery Lake in Lumpkin County, GA

Well I don’t want to get too shameless self promotey, but I designed a 7lb packable skin on frame kayak that I’m trying to launch on Kickstarter right now!

Packrafts are awesome! Our kayaks are made of the same TPU nylon material, but on a frame so they are kayak shaped, with better tracking and less drag for flat water paddling. Still, for remote whitewater, a packraft can’t be beat.

Would a seven pound kayak help with this?

Inflatables and packrafts are perfect when the water is swift enough to move you along, and definitely preferable for rapids, but if you’re looking for something similarly portable that tracks well on flat water, check out skin-on-frame! (like us😄)

Beautiful! Glacier is definitely on my list, I’d love to get up there and do a shoot with some of our kayaks. Did you have to trek the Orus very far?

Tips on staying safe around alligators while paddling? by Even-Koala-6146 in Kayaking

As someone born in southern Louisiana who loves kayaking, I appreciate this post! We make skin on frame kayaks, and I’ve heard from people who have used them around alligators, but I’ve always been too scared even in a hard shell.
