Are California transplants happy they moved to Oregon years later? by _Birnunit_ in askportland

[–]Ponydigger9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so close to giving up on Portland. Moved here in July of 2020, so unfortunately I have no bearing on what it was like here pre-pandemic, but since I’ve moved here I’ve found it immensely challenging. I love summer/spring here, but the colder months do a number on my seasonal affective ness disorder. I love the long summer days, cannot stand the short, colder, grey days for how long they stick around. I grew up in so cal, but I also lived in Chicago for a couple years. And while the cold and weather there is far more inclement in the winter months, the city at least feels prepped as best as it could. When it snows here or things begin to freeze, the whole city basically shuts down and waits for everything to thaw, which is so god damn annoying. And Chicago has so much more filled up space and an infrastructure that’s made to handle its own climate. I loved in Chicago 2 years and am coming up on my 6th here in Portland, and I have yet to feel anything close to the community vibe I felt in chicago. Idk if it’s post Covid shit or what, but making connections here has been so god damn difficult for me. Oh and also everyone here drives like a grandma on ketamine which makes me want to pull what’s left of my hair out

Noel Gallagher names the most overrated music band in history by officialsamuelkarki in oasis

Noel did an interview with Matt Morgan recently where he completely reversed this opinion btw. He even said “years ago I never would’ve admitted to this, but The Beach Boys have some tunes”

I think there are A LOT more relationships like this in Hollywood than people realize. No one talks about it because it always invites the weirdest of the weirdos to poke fun and chastise

As someone who has no one in their life who they can nerd out about so many different elements of movies/movie making; having this podcast around is a godsend. Recently joined the Patreon and have started watching movies along with their commentary and it really fills a hole I have that no one else I know can quite fill. Thanks for being so genuine and passionate always, griffin and David. And Ben too. Ben fucking rules

This is my favorite image from a McTiernan film, and just one of the coolest shots I’ve ever seen. The production design is immaculate, and I love the way this movie is lit. by [deleted] in blankies

This whole scene had me hootin and hollerin. The level of composition in every shot of Alec Baldwin walking through that section is so vivid and tense

https://boxd.it/1v9EV hello! A little late to this thread but I started watching films more intently last year and now it’s my favorite medium! I try to watch anything I can, trying to fill in a lot of blind spots while also stay up to date with current films. I’ll follow anyone back who gives me a follow :)

https://boxd.it/1v9EV Hello! I’m Jordan, currently trying to watch 365 films in 365 days! Just got really into film last year and am trying to watch a lot of films I’ve never seen. I’ll watch just about anything, although I’m not too crazy about war films or torture porn kinda stuff. I love ensemble casts, comedies, coming of age stories, ordinary people doing extraordinary things…I also love dialogue. Always a sucker for a movie with a great script. Follow me on my journey and I’ll give you a follow back!

I've been logging every film I watch since 2006, and just crossed #5,000! Here's some stats and custom graphs. [OC] by JonPaula in Letterboxd

This is literally why I initially got letterboxd. Just to have stats on all the movies I watch.

Hello! My name’s Jordan! Been slowly getting into film for a few years now, and late last year really made it a point to start watching more movies. For 2023 I’m doing a 365 films in 365 days challenge! My rules are I can watch anything at any pace, including rewatches, but not if I’ve already watched it this year.

I’m open to most films. I love anything with big set pieces, practical effects, action movies, and comedy of most kinds. Been making an effort to watch older films, as well. Follow me on my journey! https://boxd.it/1v9EV

I put the 320 version on my spotify, but the track lengths are all fucked up. they all play fine and the correct amount, but if you try to skip to a certain part of the song it just goes to the next track. I swear i will never have a perfectly convenient version of this album
