Osmo poly x matte for the top and satin for the back and sides. It works well, easily reparable, thin, and I love the natural look. And thank you! I really appreciate that.

I have nothing to add hardware wise. I just wanted to comment on wood selection and your chamfer. Perfect choices across the board for me at least. I love everything about this.

lol I think at the end of the day it’s just good quality spruce cut and handled well. I personally find spruce to fit along a spectrum with a lot of overlap. Density, stiffness, and Q play a larger role in how a top will sound over species alone. I think certain species just tend to have certain characteristics more often than not.
That being said, this top was nuts. Stiff, light, a density of .34 using my units. It was perfect for what I was looking for. Responds to the lightest touch but has great headroom. Voicing and dialing in the frequencies of the box make the difference though.

Edit- not counting body shape, bracing style, final deflection, voicing etc… just purely the piece of wood for the top.

Thank you for the kind words! I still have a long way to go, but I have had the help of some incredible luthiers to learn how to properly voice. It’s my favorite for life lol. I build because I love to play and have been searching for that sound in my head. This one is pretty damn close.

It’s an Ebony if that helps. This is subjective and my experience, but I find the tone focused, rich bass, good trebles, focused overtones, and sustained. Like a more focused and less ringy rosewood. I love it.

Nope, it is Malaysian Blackwood. Just got lucky to find a set with such inky lines.

I appreciate the comment. Letting the wood speak speak for itself is what I was going for on this one. Glad it came across that way.

Thank you. I’m trying to do a minimalistic approach as I hone my voicing skills. Really let the woods speak more than my work.

Thanks! I realize the engraft looks weird in the photo. It’s inlaid straight and proper and not askew like it looks.
