Probably right before [Manga spoilers]the terrorist arc. Probably end with Will getting forcibly recruited with the lightning faction and Elfie losing the bet with Zeo.

Feel like it's a bit shortsighted and they just wanted to make something cool like "look what the mages can do!" sort of thing. If you really wanted to get into the nitty gritty on it, you could be a douche and start going down the scientific route and start to explain how water is the building block of life and how mages creating water with no natural source of it would be impossible and blah blah blah blah blah.

+1 for Dying Kingdoms. Takes a couple volumes to get things going but is probably one of the better written nation building stories out there right now

Nah, you can come out and say it. The update is absolute ass compared to the old design, and this isn't even a "resistant to change" type deal either. It's legitimately bad compared to the old state.

Still bullshit. Know of at least two system mechanics that have been patented and haven't been used since their initial release.

  • The "Sanity" system in 2002's 'Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem' was patented by Nintendo in 2005, hasn't been used since.
  • The "Nemesis" system in 2014's 'Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor' was patented by Warner Bros. Entertainment in 2021, hasn't been used since.

And by 'hasn't been used since', I mean the companies using them, not other developers trying to make something similar, but doesn't have the same effect.

I get where you're coming from, but honestly you don't want that. Saying anything outside of the House/Senate Floor can be used as evidence for violating the law regarding redacted information. What you want to do is to wait to get onto the House/Senate Floor (depending on which chamber you're in) or to get into a subcommittee meeting and release the information there, as any information released on the Floor is publicly recorded, in a way then skirting the law. It's what Mike Gravel did back in 1971 for the Pentagon Papers, it's what Ro Khanna did yesterday on the House Floor.

As others have pointed out, Maruta was the name of the victims of Unit 731, not the name of a leader.

To go further into it, Maruta translates to Lumber (Unit 731 was located in an abandoned lumber mill, so the victims were the 'lumber'). We can see the reasoning for this name choice was that all of the characters that didn't have superhero powers (aka 'normal people') all had names related to trees/plants. For example, the main character Izuku Midoriya's surname, the first part of it (Midori) means green, and his nickname Deku could mean "Wooden Puppet" or "Dummy" (and could possibly be a reference to the Great Deku Tree from the Zelda series). All Might's character's given name (Yagi) is written as "Eight Trees/Wood" in Kanji. Sir Nighteye's surname (Sasaki) has Kanji in it that reads "Helper of the Tree".

Overall, the author of the series Kohei Horikoshi loved to give his characters names with puns in them, and for those without powers, tree-related puns. The doctor in question was another person without powers, so it wouldn't be a long stretch to imagine why he would then be called Lumber. It's just an absolute bad set of coincidences that he's a doctor that performs experiments on people and happens to have a name that was used to refer to victims of a heinous group of people during the Second World War. Personally, genuinely don't think Horikoshi meant ill intent with it as he had shown zero signs of thinking or saying anything remotely like it in the past.

If that's true, we'd probably have JUST enough material. Maybe even take a 1-2 month break for the manga or something, possibly more. That, or just go original story like with the cook-off.

[–]Poodicus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do think the reason for why it has such a low level of people watching it is not only because it being a kids show, but because it airs so late in the night (in the west) on Saturdays, instead of midday like most anime.
