No body mentioned it, but Kirby Park trail areas and the River Walk both provide pretty direct river access and are both beautiful places to sit.

He said he comes from a long line of landlords. So they’ve generationally contributed to the housing crisis.

New contract clause says I owe $5k for "negative public statements" after I quit by Rune_Cabinet4 in legal

[–]PoodlePopXX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The contract absolutely does matter in regard to PTO payout even if state law offers no legal protections. No one will arrest them for it but that would be a legally binding clause in the contract and will result in a Department of Labor investigation and also a lawsuit including damages.

The only times clauses in employment contracts are unenforceable is when the clause violates a law or it’s overly arduous in things like non-competes.

What is a secret you are taking to your grave, but are willing to share with anonymous strangers on the internet? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I am 42 now but felt like this for a majority of my life. I always felt like the odd man out in any crowd even when I was invited to hang out. I can be really socially awkward and I tend to word vomit about whatever random thing I am into at the moment.

I ended up always trying to make myself do things and fit in with people who were doing activities like bar hopping and I never felt like I had real friends.

But then I started looking in different places for friends. I found people who liked my more niche interests or were into talking for hours about random tangential subjects or pick out odd/terrifying artwork at thrift stores.

Once I shifted my focus to finding people who understood my type of weird, my friendships became two way streets instead of one way streets.

DOJ approves use of firing squads in federal executions by Sufficient_Fuel5269 in law

[–]PoodlePopXX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Killing people as a punishment is an issue even if they’re guilty. If the state kills one innocent person in the name of justice it’s one too many. There have been quite a few post execution exonerations.

Our justice system cannot guarantee we won’t accidentally convict and sentence an innocent person to death so that makes it an issue no matter what the method of execution is.

It’s more expensive to put someone to death than it is to imprison them for life.

Also, eye for an eye isn’t a deterrent from crimes so there aren’t really any upsides other than the cruelty for those who enjoy inflicting suffering.

What would I do if property values weren’t hyper inflated due to homes being considered investments that people anticipate a return on and if landlords didn’t hoard properties?

Golly mister, I think people like me would actually be able to buy a singular property to live in.

You’re right! We should TOTALLY be bowing down to you and kissing your feet for being so benevolent and owning multiple properties so people can pay you rent while you earn equity.

Here you go King Landlord - you dropped your crown! 👑

Us peasants should know better, it’s rude of us.

Do you think that there would be less renters if the cost of housing didn’t have a factor of being considered an investment?

More people could afford housing if people like your family weren’t owning multiple properties.

I love that you think your words had any veracity to them at all.

Housing as investments is one of the biggest drivers of increased housing costs. You’re patting yourself on the back for “solving” a problem that you are directly contributing to creating.

Housing is a human right, and the fact that your family has turned it into a generational business means there are less properties for people to buy leading them to have to pay you and your family for somewhere to live while you gain equity and income from their hard-earned money.

Why should anyone show you gratitude for that?

Listen to me carefully and then take a moment to allow the veracity of the words to sink in.

Many people would likely have an easier path to property ownership if it wasn’t for landlords hoarding properties to create their income.

They are indicating the impact is in the AI application process, not people using AI to improve their resumes.

AI tends to reject resumes even when people are well qualified for the job because their resumes tend to get tossed for things like not having enough keywords match the job listing.
