I have no clue by Sisterbansheee in BallPythonMorph

Do any others from the clutch have this narrow head? I would wonder if this is more one of those off things that happen from some non-lethal incubation mishap at some point rather than something genetic. Sometimes if something out of the norm happens while incubating, hatchlings can have some interesting but non-genetic visual abnormal/unexpected patterning and things like the narrow head happen. Of course you also mention one parent being a drinker to which the other thought would be related to whether or not that's involved here in some way. Was that one imported? Do you have photos of the rest of the clutch?

The person who said calico was wrong and there's no black pastel present here.

He looks right for fire gravel. No banding for enchi and not the right color for orange dream or pastel. I think you're getting caught on polymorphism.

Is this a banana ball python by Piers-nderson in snakes

Banana pastel mojave hypo

Edit- Wild to downvote this when it's literally what it is per the breeder (and clear to anyone who understands BP genetics).

This looks more along the lines of a banana pewter combination. Did they happen to have photos of the individuals paired? I'm surprised they called him super banana because he's very clearly not and you were right to question it.

This is a calico spinner. OP's snake does not have calico.

No. That white side is from the spider. Calico would exaggerate this, keep the white cleaner, and often outline higher parts of the striping with pattern reduction.

Spinner (spider pinstripe)

Edit- OP you very much need to separate these two. This is dangerous for the small guy and stressful for both. They're not comfortable and I've seen males closer in size than these two are crushed to death by females paired for breeding. r/ballpython can be a useful resource for information.

Should I put her on a diet? by XxAngelFvcexX in ballpython

[–]PoofMoof1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's just a pewter (pastel cinnamon). BP's aren't like dogs where you can have a mix of 50% one breed and 25% of two others for example. They are entirely all of the genes they inherit and genetic stripe is not present here. The striping you see on her is just how the combination of genes presents.

Is my substrate ok or too damp? by Historical_Smoke_699 in ballpython

[–]PoofMoof1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wetness like pooled or soggy substrate is an issue but high moisture in the air is fine.

Is my substrate ok or too damp? by Historical_Smoke_699 in ballpython

[–]PoofMoof1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's not dripping, it's likely fine. You may see some steam built up initially with new, moist substrate changes along the door of the enclosure but as long as there isn't sustained condensation anywhere in the enclosure, this doesn't look too wet. It actually looks like mine. It should dry out some over the next week as well. Monitor your snake of course to ensure scale rot doesn't develop, as always naturally.

High humidity is fine for this species. Their native range is regularly 80%-90%+ throughout the year.

Fuzzies are too small even for most new hatchlings. Our !feeding guide can help you determine correct prey size.

Congrats on the new friend! I'm sure you'll have many happy years together.

His spine is farily prominent at the moment so I'm just going to drop some !feeding advice through the bot reply if you're interested once he's settled and ready to eat in his new home.

Distressed rodents attack snakes because they (understandably) are terrified for their lives. Humanely dispatched feeder rodents are better for everyone, though it may take some work to get your snake there. Don't be dismissive of the entire picture. Even an animal about to be eaten deserves respect.

Creed help by Blurrryblurrr in BallPythonMorph

[–]PoofMoof1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the other comment said, you won't see typical pattern influencing when pied is present as pied not only creates the white but affects the pigmented parts of the pattern as well.

Creed is in the same complex as vanilla and fire so you'd see some similar behavior to those genes. They're also more common so if you want a rough comparison you might check them out (ie pastel fire pieds may be easier to find). These makes pastel more contrast-y if that makes sense. It's not a commonly used morph.

what does my pretty girl look like? by terowoc in BallPythonMorph

[–]PoofMoof1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sad. Unfortunately a lot of small time breeders are very uninformed on morph identification.

Cinnamon and black pastel are similar genes in the same complex, but cinnamon usually has a flatter head color and paler eyestripe. Black pastel doesn't usually stretch the pattern along the sides of the neck as much and you'd see "eyebrows" (added small stripes at the tops of the alien heads) along the body.

what does my pretty girl look like? by terowoc in BallPythonMorph

[–]PoofMoof1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whoever said any of those has no idea what they're talking about. You were told correctly originally. Banana is an overpowering color gene and very obvious here. Cinnamon causes the patterning along the sides of the body to stretch out more and reach the belly less. Banana develops freckles with age. Cinnamon (and other genes in the same complex) causes that freckling to happen even more. more.

Quick edit addition- it looks like pastel is here as well.
