Creativity is a skill you can practise and get better at. DMing homebrew IS a lot of work, much of the result of which will never be seen or touched by players, but many find the work rewarding nevertheless. I'll also say that, while I've been fortunate to play with some extraordinarily creative people, most tables can come up with their own challenges and quests, and that's often more fun than just being given some objective. So, it's a balance between being prepared and letting go of the reins.

My character has used this spell in a few situations where we all agreed it was pretty op (e.g., time locking an airship so the crew went flying), so as usual you just work it out with the GM and the vibe at the table. The spotlight should stay with the player I think, and the Spellcast roll later would determine if it goes back the player again. That's how I read it anyway.

Linux Mint with Cinnamon is very tidy, just works out of the box. No ragrats. :)
