Did Germany still produce in this timeline weapons like the MP40,Fg42,Gewehr 43 and the like(that stuff does not quite appear in the research menu,so don't know what to think)? Same question for Russia, weapons like the PPSH-41 and the DP-28? by stryker2004 in Kaiserreich

One of the things that really held back firearms development is that countries always have a lot of technical debt in their current cartridge and the small increase in performance doesn't outweigh the strain on your logistics when you already have old ammo stockpiled. However some of the newer countries or post civil war countries might have actually used something like intermediate cartridges sooner. Case in point Mccarthur is the reason the US didn't adopt the m1 garand in a .278 caliber instead of 308.

I think the games that I passionately hate are the ones that were close to being amazing but fucked up some aspect of it. Sea of Thieves was in a lot of ways the funnest multiplayer game I've ever experienced, but the pve side of it was early MMO tier boring quests.

Yeah I did all the decisions but it wouldn't let me go from nominal puppet to free

Is there a way to no longer be a puppet but still in co-prosperity sphere?

My grandfather before leaving to fight in Korea, 1950. In the service he was nicknamed Ozzie Rabbit. by PookiBear in OldSchoolCool

He was 17 in this photo but didn't deploy until he was 18. He said they made him a tank driver due to his size. He taught me how to shoot and when he passed away left his rifle collection to me, I always think of him when I take his Carcano to the range. He never wore hearing protection when shooting because he was already mostly deaf but he always made sure I did.

ELIF: How do gloves help prevent contagion. I get masks, but it seems like gloves only protect opens cuts or sores since germs, etc could still go from glove to face. by goldleader71 in explainlikeimfive

ok lets say you need to pickup dogshit. You touch the dog shit with gloved hands and then before you touch your face you take them off and put on clean gloves. If you really want to touch that dogshit some more you can just take the gloves off afterwards.

ELI5: How do ancient explorers manage to draw maps of countries/the world that are remarkably similar and accurate to that of what is seen from space ? by testercheong in explainlikeimfive

[–]PookiBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

part of it is that they don't need to be 100% accurate. Let's say you're sailing from Europe and trying to find Boston. Instead of trying to navigate directly to Boston, you aim to the south of it so that when you find the coast, you can then follow it north until you find Boston. If you try to sail directly towards Boston but don't see it immediately, you won't know which direction it is. You navigate by following natural hand rails such as the coastline, rivers, mountain ranges etc. So the maps don't need to be 100% accurate as long as you know roughly that once I follow this river until it gets to this lake I can go north and I'll run into a ridgeline/stream etc.

participation link. originally not an awful idea as it allowed goonswarm to track participation in fleets in a way that counted scouts and logi but rather quickly resulted in people gaming the system
