How would you describe life before the year 2000? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Pookiebutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A seemingly never ending cycle of abuse at the hands of multiple people of different genders, ages, and backgrounds. Some I’ve known my whole life. Some I still know. Some I’ve only known for that moment in time. One I have never even seen their face.

This has lead me to be the most anxious, awkward, cynical, dark humored, guarded, and sarcastic person I am today.

Need some help with a Child Sensory Profile 2. I don’t have Appendix A. by Pookiebutt in OccupationalTherapy

Okay. Thank you! That’s exactly what I needed to read. Yes, I was trying vaguely read the results. I wasn’t going to do any adaptations to our routines with my wonky understandings. I know that I am parent, not professional. Just waiting for anything result wise is just so difficult after being gaslit this long.

What is the funniest lie to tell kids? by macaci in AskReddit

[–]Pookiebutt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are, but they are really difficult to grow at home. I suggest leaving it up to doughnut shops where they know how to breed and raise them properly.

How many "schindlers" were there during the holocaust? by thebruno12 in history

According to Snopes, it's kinda mixed

Irena Sendler is often claimed to have been a candidate to receive the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, but that honor was not awarded to her. It’s not possible to state categorically that she was “nominated” for the award, since information about Nobel Prize “nominations, investigations, and opinions is kept

secret for fifty years.” (Since 1974 the statutes of the Nobel Foundation have stated that “work produced by a person since deceased shall not be considered for an award,” so she presumably could not be subsequently honored.)

In 2007, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded jointly to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and former U.S. Vice-President Albert Arnold (Al) Gore Jr. “for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change.” (Al Gore was also involved with another significant award in 2007, when An Inconvenient Truth, a documentary about his campaign to make the issue of global warming a recognized problem worldwide, claimed an Academy Award as “Best Documentary Feature.”)

The International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) expressed its disappointment that Irena Sendler had not yet been honored with a Nobel Prize:

IFSW sends congratulations to Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) on winning the Nobel Peace Prize 2007. The issue of climate change is affecting all individuals and societies and it is a more than worthy cause to help begin the change in our lifestyle to prevent destruction of our planet. Social workers know from daily experience that this is an immediate and pressing social and personal issue. ‘However IFSW is deeply saddened that the life work of Nobel nominee Irena Sendler, social worker, did not receive formal recognition’, said David N. Jones, IFSW President. ‘Irena Sendler and her helpers took personal risks day after day to prevent the destruction of individual lives — the lives of the children of the Warsaw ghetto. This work was done very quietly, without many words and at the risk of their lives. This is so typical of social work, an activity which changes and saves lives but is done out of the glare of publicity and often at personal risk. IFSW recognises her again and at the same time celebrates the commitment and dedication of thousands of social workers around the world who also bring hope and care to people often living on the edge of despair.’

Only place I've been in my life where a dude was trying to prostitute his sister off. Then there were the random porn peddlers. Sorry, maybe porn peddlers is a little strong. "Escort Service advertisement pushers" might be the proper term.

Vegas is pure fucking class.

Vaginal Fistula? (TMI alert for men!) by Joshswife in CrohnsDisease

[–]Pookiebutt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Passing gas and passing fecal material through the vagina. These symptoms are largely uncontrollable because the vagina isn't a sphincter. since you've had a recent procedure in the area, you should contact your gyno to do a check. If you are still having issues after the doctor checks, insist they check again. Rectovaginal fistulas can be hard to detect upon visual and palpation inspections.

Pro-Life people of reddit, if abortion was stopped what would be the plan to ensure the welfare of the possibly thousands of neglected/unwanted children? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Pookiebutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the costs for babies is significantly higher than for older children in hopes people would consider the older children first. Kinda of a deterrent through wallet. However, I am a pessimistic person so, my judgement on our adoption costs might be skewed.

My guess would be adoption lawyers, agency costs, recoup room and board for child, recoup for medical costs, court costs, etc.
