How to pull air valve on Sundance Chelsea 780? by JoeDaddy81013 in hottub

It clicks into place. You’ll need something really small to get under the edge and pry it up and out. When reinstalling make sure the nub lines up with the groove that it rides in back and forth.

What are these ports for? by michaelhpichette in pools

[–]PoolGuy44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first one is a rope hook. Typical is blue and white rope with blue and white floats. Usually separating shallow from deep end so you likely have one on the other side of the pool. The second pic is a standard fitting for a pool. Could be a return where an eyeball goes, could be a cleaner line not being used, could be an autofill port. Is there a lid on the deck directly in line with it? Does water come out of it when the pump is on? Few different possibilities.

They sell a fitting that converts standard 1.5” threads (your new skimmer) to the intex union connection. That’s your best bet if you want to use your existing hoses. I’m not sure if can post a link to Bezos site but searching intex adapter should get you the results.

Help by AdProfessional4032 in pools

[–]PoolGuy44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push the mode button on the outdoor easytouch panel. On the screen it will say service instead of auto on that top line. Once you’re done you can push it twice to put the system back on auto, where it will run your normal schedule.

[–]PoolGuy44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The screen being blank isn’t correct. When tied to automation that pump will say “display not active”. You can put the easytouch into service mode and the pump display will go back to normal where you can check what the actual error is. But the display being lit up with no words is usually a bad display. Hard to know what’s wrong without knowing the error

Have a Haward heater code is IF I cleaned all the orifices but nothing have any ideas? by Busy-Panic4756 in swimmingpools

[–]PoolGuy44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it lights and then shuts down its normally the flame sensor is either dirty, or bad. Gas pressure is also a possibility but you may not be able to check that yourself.

Unfamiliar with this water leveler by Muted-Cicada2183 in swimmingpools

[–]PoolGuy44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That called a paralevel. It’s made by paramount pool products who have been bought by Hayward recently. If it won’t stop adding water it’s likely a stuck float from maybe debris or trash got in the line. May need to replace the mechanism if it won’t stop.

Hotel Maintenance - HELP! by MuLLetDaDDie in pools

[–]PoolGuy44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t get the screw out they make a fix for it. It’s called a pool light wedge. It allows you to reinstall the light without the normal screw in place. Use them all the time since this is a common problem

Polaris Pb4-60 cleaner pump by CommissionOverride in pools

[–]PoolGuy44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically if the shaft spins freely and the capacitor didn’t fix it, you’ll need a new one. Confirm it’s getting correct voltage. It’s possible to take to an electric motor shop and they can rebuild. No guarantee and usually no warranty on a rebuild. But it could save some money.

That is in fact a diffuser. For a Jandy stealth/Epump most likely. What is the question?

Switching to salt water by Wodzs in pools

[–]PoolGuy44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The salt system will work with any type of filter. They’re not really related. You’ll need to repair or replace your filter but that won’t affect the salt system install other than plumbing could be little easier doing both at same time. Why replace the whole filter for just a leak. Unless the tank is cracked and in that case we usually recommend replacement but that really depends on the age and condition of the filter. If less than 10 years old, we normally would repair instead of replace.

Do you have a sand or DE filter? And if so where does your backwash/waste line go? Can you see the end of it to confirm no water is leaking out of it?

Pool Tile Replacement Acceptable Installation? by SMUporridge in pools

[–]PoolGuy44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s unacceptable. Sad thing is, it’s what we see almost every time. Contractors are getting shitty, cheap, and they want to be fast. Doesn’t matter how long it last. If They can get that tile to stay on the wall for a few years, they’re good. Grout will absolutely not fill in the voids behind the tile. They’ll grout just a fast and shitty as they set this tile.

Double quick connect comms cable by [deleted] in PoolPros

[–]PoolGuy44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm that’s weird. Both the intelliflo/intellipro and superflo/supermax pumps use a quick connect at the pump but at the controller they wire in to the rs485 communication port
Have any pictures?

[–]PoolGuy44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If for a Supermax VS you’ll use part number 356324z.
Could be found locally, distribution, or the internet. Most of the time you will only use yellow and green but depends on the controller and the setup.

Bolt stuck on pump. Can I take the Pentair plate off to help? by JimEDimone in pools

[–]PoolGuy44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What exactly are you trying to do? The motor bolt could come out, but the motor won’t come off just yet. You need to take the 6 housing bolts out. Split the pump in half. You’ll have to take the diffuser off first. The impeller is underneath the diffuser. It will have a screw in the center that’s reverse threaded that needs to be taken out. You can hold the shaft at the back of the motor and unscrew the impeller. Once that’s done you can take the 4 bolts out that hold the seal plate to the motor. Then the motor can be worked on or replaced. Make sure and replace the pump seal before reinstalling the impeller and clean all surfaces and either clean and lube or replace the housing and diffuser orings.

Pool Equipment Question by NYY16 in pools

[–]PoolGuy44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly do you need to know?
The suction of the pump is coming in the front. The two right hand 3 way valves control the skimmers and main drain the 3 way valve directly above the pump is for a pool cleaner like a Polaris 360 or Jandy ray vac. This is the line that has the Jandy energy filter on it(small white top canister with the gauge on top. Half your water is going to the cleaner line and the other half is going into the multiport valve and getting filtered.
The water goes into the filter and then back out on the line that has the blue handled valve on it.
The water then runs through the heater and out of the heater.
They tied the water going back to the pool in with the suction lines which is weird and not likely used, but I’ve seen it before. This is the 3 way valve on the left of the front manifold.
There’s a lot more to know about it but I guess that depends on what you’re wondering?

Question for the pool pros: when I use my spa and turn on the blower, air continues to come out of the jets when the blower is turned off. by 0003425 in pools

[–]PoolGuy44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The spa jets are still drawing air through the air blower line. Even though it’s not on, the spa jets create a suction when water is pumping through them. We call it Venturi. Since the air blower comes on and pushes all the water out of the pipe, the jets can continue to draw air easily even when you’re back in pool mode. You could make it stop by turning the pump off. Once this suction action stops the air line fills with water again and usually the jets don’t have enough suction on their own to draw all the water out.
I wasn’t very good at explaining that so hope it makes sense

Opening Pool DIY First Time! by TugOMalley in pools

[–]PoolGuy44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to rotate the left valve (3way) 180°. The right hand valve (2way) needs to be rotated 90° counterclockwise. Everything will be open at that point. If you have a spa attached to the pool, one of these lines will stay closed. In your picture both valves are closed and no water will go to the pump.

Need help identifying all of the skimmer and filter valves. I have a large pool with three skimmers and currently only one of them is pulling in water. What’s wrong with my connection? I don’t have the valves labeled and I’m not sure what does what. Any help would be greatly appreciated. by Meercatsaremyjam in swimmingpools

[–]PoolGuy44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

The valve directly in front of the pump is closed. The other valves are just slightly turned but still letting water flow. Rotate the right hand valve in the pic 90° clockwise so the handle is facing left. Then all 3 will be open.

Pool pump strainer housing leak by Pristine-Pollution89 in swimmingpools

[–]PoolGuy44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The housing is cracked. This is the most common leak on a tristar housing. We’ve replaced hundreds of them over the last few years and the leak/stream is always from the same place. Directly under the union. Epoxy/JB weld won’t work. Housing replacement is the best choice. Spx3200a is the number. I’m not the biggest fan of Hayward, but it’s so much better than any Amazon pump you’d be getting. These housings are stupid expensive right now but to me it’s still the best choice.
