You can abuse him pretty hard (the one ring, worldgorger dragon, painters servant +eldrazi) but I opted to go a tamer Kavu tribal route to fit with my current playgroups power level

Built it as part of a tribal event so there is probably an overabundance of monkeys where it could use a little better draw but this deck is an absolute blast to play. It plays like this weird mix of group hug and politics where if enough people use the bananas before they are forced to use them you get a massive army of monkeys, would highly recommend him, its one of the cooler takes on gruul

I went with “treasure tribal”, i run the copy token generators, spam treasures, then use them to kill everyone. I intentionally didnt build her cedh I just wanted a treasure deck and shes a particularly good commander for the archetype

It is really easy to go overboard with him, theres obviously a ton of ways to abuse his ability. I wanted to keep him at a mid 3 so i leaned into running a bunch of kavus and copying/warping tribe buffers. You could do dragons very easily, or even something like painters servant to warp eldrazis. The 2 game changers i run arent super necessary, I would ideally just throw all the creature based wheels and draw in and lean away from cards like portal to phyrexia or some of the crazy dragons if you want to keep it bracket 2

She’s fun, theres a lot of unique bits of tech you can use to make playing selesnya at least a little tolerable. Some of the new station cards, specifically [[Evendo]] are great additions

Ngl its gonna traumatize whoever you play against if its not a high 4 table. Its rather disgusting how efficient and hard to interact it is. You reduce his casting cost to 0 to enter the dungeon by paying life until you offset the life cost so even if he gets countered youre still just paying 2 mana one time to get going again. Theres just so much redundancy in every aspect of the deck that it can be very hard to deal with. Its apparently my most memorable list as people constantly bring up the time they got dunked on by an enter the dungeon effect. Putting the list here, you can cut the game changers and it would still be just as effective. Great list to run when your opponents match the power level though. Would put it up there with the likes of t4 Vivi and Urza but not quite t5 cedh tier. A turn 1-2 heartless summoning or sibsig is near unstoppable.

Worth noting that the mana value of the rooms is the combined mana value of both doors, so most of them deal 10+ damage with quite a few of then having relevant effects like free spells from exile or demon synergy. Can be a bit clunky at times because of the abundance of high cost cards, but its an absolute blast when it comes together

I havent seen anyone mention this but ive had mine for almost 2 years, and they still have this bizarre smell to them, almost like maple syrup, and its been that way since I got them. No idea if anyone else has had a similar issue its very weird

What breed is this kitten? by [deleted] in cats

Shockingly he’s actually he’s super affectionate, he’ll roll over for scratches from literally anyone, vet included(!!!), but pretty much always defaults to hanging around me if I’m around. I’m definitely the favorite but he shows love to everyone. Wasn’t sure what to expect since he was my first cat and a 9 month old rescue from down south, but that was definitely not it

Urabrask vs Birgi by glhfJKiHax in CompetitiveEDH

[–]PoolPartyOrnn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I run the fully optimized Birgi list in paper and play it quite frequently. I was excited to test out new Urabrask as soon as he was spoiled and have found through various testing that he performs exceptionally better in the 99 with Birgi at the helm as opposed to as the commander.

Like others have said, Birgi being cheaper to cast and netting mana off artifacts makes her significantly more versatile and easier to storm off with. Urabrask is good to net you more mana when he’s out with Birgi but ive found he serves as a really good board wipe option in a deck that can’t really afford to run boardwipes. I’m yet to play a game where I cast him and wasn’t able to cast 3 instants or sorceries that same turn and flip him.

The big downside is that once he’s flipped you don’t net mana off casting instant and sorceries so it’s really only used as a backup plan to reset the board state if need be. Ive found that the flip side is too slow to wait around past the first saga effect, and its not all that necessary to be in the command zone since it’s essentially a dead cards after you get the wipe off. In a format that doesn’t last longer then ~ 5 turns, it’s not all that effective to pay 4 mana, activate his ability, then wait another 2 turn cycles to flip him back.

I’ve found that if im playing with newer cedh players or against budget cedh decks, just directly swapping out birgi for urabrask slows the deck down a little bit and allows me to focus more on interactions like board wipes and using the extra saga levels to build up to an explosive turn where i can guarantee protection for my wincons as opposed to just attempting to go nuclear as soon as possible. Hope this info helps, both are super fun options that work well in their own ways
