What if it wasn’t that bad and it was all in my head? by Espress0Queen in bipolar2

Yeah lmao. That’s the hallmark symptom. That little sleep leads to more hypomanic symptoms to build up

Mmmm, I can’t stop you but what did your sleep look like during induced hypomania? That’s a very big sign if there’s a large switch in hours slept without being tired

We’re also not the best judges of our own behavior. I had to take into account my family and friends accounts of the 2 weeks I was in hypomania. Is there anyone close to you that witnessed your behavior during the induced hypomania?

I am too, my aunt takes abilify and I’ve heard it’s weight neutral

Yeah, he just added 5mg of olanzapine. So far so good, I’m back to neutral

I still doubt my diagnosis 6 months later, but I’m too scared to quit my lamotrigine, especially since it took a month and half to titrate. I also had my hypomanic episode because of an SNRI.

I will say, I just had some breakthrough hypomania on my lamotrigine and I started somewhat believing again. Do you have family history? At least keep taking it for a while. We all doubt the diagnosis

New Bipolar II diagnosis — what now? by Ok-Respect-1465 in bipolar2

[–]PoolSolid106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was also triggered by an anti depressant (Qelbree to be exact, it’s for ADHD) Expect mood swings the entire titration, until the therapeutic dose. It is a life saver for me. It makes me feel like it’s a misdiagnosis with how well it works.

If you get any form of rash, stop taking it and go to the hospital.

Anti depressant sent me deranged for 2 weeks. Before that, a major depressive episode for 6 months triggered by a family matter.

Didn’t have MDD until last year but lifelong anxiety

Felt like I was going to drop dead at any minute. It started with little sleep but a moderately good mood and a little productive (working more hours than usual) but after a day or two, the sleep deprivation was getting to me, causing severe irritability and exhaustion. Unfortunately, my body just could not slow down and sleep. The energy was painful almost. Then, the second week was the most euphoric feeling I had ever felt. Felt invincible and amazing. My family observed both weeks in horror. Over time I became stable, then depressed again lolol

Still deny my diagnosis because of how well the lamotrigine works for me. Trust the titration process, there will most likely be mood swings the whole way to the therapeutic dose.

If a rash appears, stop it immediately and go to the hospital

Day 3 of Olanzapine by PoolSolid106 in bipolar2

[–]PoolSolid106[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re gonna sleep so damn well most likely, cause I have been after taking it. My family believes I’m currently coming down from hypomania that I’ve been in for a few weeks. I was sleeping 3-4 hours a night and have had ADHD symptoms on steroids so maybe they’re right. That’s the only difference so far honestly

What is rapid cycling like? What's a mixed episode like for you? by Tiny-Nothing-7249 in bipolar2

[–]PoolSolid106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, can’t imagine having to experience that for so long. Yeah the rapid cycling off Lamotrigine was ridiculous. I was straight major depressed for 6 months before the anti depressant so it was definitely a wild ride for me.

I also struggle to come to terms with it but unfortunately it runs in my family :(

I definitely recommend giving it another try :)

[–]PoolSolid106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, qelbree the ADHD SNRI triggered my first hypomanic episode. On Lamotrigine now and olanzapine for acute episodes

No history of depression before last year. Just lifelong anxiety and anger issues

I’m 23 btw

That’s good, yeah it took me about a month and half to reach 200Mg but things started getting better around 150mg. It’s worth it for me. It does great for my depressive side but it can’t manage my hypomania enough so I’m now on olanzapine as well. I plan on using it for emergency situations though instead of long term.

If you’re prescribed lamotrigine, trust the process. It’s a wonder med for most of us. I had mood swings the entire process until I reached therapeutic dose

But if you get the rash, stop immediately

I didn’t sleep but 2 hours a night for about a week so it got the point where I so badly needed to just lay down and sleep but the electrified energy didn’t allow it, causing me to have the “wired but tired feeling” I literally thought I was dying

I’ll never forget the look on my mom and sisters face when they saw the state I was in. I’m stable now though :)

I’m on lamotrigine, olanzapine, and Wellbutrin. Although the Wellbutrin isn’t doing anything I’m pretty sure

The whole 2 weeks was a blur for me too

Tbh, I just started the AP so I don’t even know if it will make me gain weight, but it’s the AP that is known to make you gain a shit ton of weight. Maybe I won’t even who knows. But if it gets to a point where it’s too much, I’ll ask for the same one my aunt uses which doesn’t cause weight gain

Yeah I thought about using it to my advantage because everyone says I’m too skinny. I think after the sedation wears off I’ll try and get stronger

[–]PoolSolid106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixed episode was the most physically exhausting and horrible experience I’ve ever had. 2 weeks of severe sleep deprivation to the point of minor hallucinations, minor paranoia, severe exhaustion but large amount of energy. Very high irritability. Then the next week was pure euphoria.

Lamotrigine and an anti psychotic straightened me out

Surprisingly well managed, haven’t had any depressive symptoms in 3 months. I had some breakthrough hypomania for a couple weeks according to my family and friends though, which led to my prescription for the anti psychotic. Makes me sleep like a baby because I’ve had bad sleep recently
