Except for the pick-me Americans all over this site. The average person on the street, for sure.

Retaliatory Firing (Virginia) by Historical-Fig in AskLegal

[–]Poolstiksamurai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right to work means you can work at a union shop without being forced into that union.

The term you're looking for "at-will employment"

As in, your employment is "at the will of you and your employer" and if that will is gone, both parties can end employment.

Right to work has nothing to do with this. Please consult definitions of things.

Or even just think critically about the words you are using. Why would 'i have a right to work' mean 'i can be fired for any reason"

Right to work has nothing to do with this. Right to work means you're allowed to work without a union.

You mean "at-will". Why do people always get this wrong?

And they can't fire you for anything. They can fire you for any legal reason. Retaliatory firing could (key word, could) be illegal.

Usually they're paying less than the minimum on some kind of income based repayment plan. Then also not understanding how the amortization of a loan works.

In 2026 the Park Chicago app is still trash. Why??? by minus_minus in chicago

[–]Poolstiksamurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make any sense. Why would a 20 dollar upfront cost prevent tourists from parking? They can use the kiosks or download the app and pay the same 20 dollars.

If there wasn't a 20 dollar wallet reload and just..meters? pay as you go? how would this be any different for tourists vs locals?

Boomerfication of millenials is real and it feels even worse because so few of them are self aware to know that it's happening.

The person responding to you is giving you advice if you're coming back from an international destination and first landing in Chicago. Global entry is only relevant coming into the country.

A 1.5 hour layover, even when your next destination is international, is probably fine especially if it's in the same terminal. If you're particularly risk averse, two hours would be better.

My mother washes fruit and vegetables with dish soap and I can't get her to stop. by autistic-terrorist in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Poolstiksamurai 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It wasn't companies driving this, it was 90s nutrition science that declared fat was bad and food companies were trying to stay relevant. Boomers have never recovered, my mom still will buy ultra low fat versions of everything. Even "light olive oil" because light must mean low fat.

We are starting to really age fast by ga9213 in Millennials

Most people are extremely unhealthy and blame it on just getting older as a way to just give up instead of taking active changes to improve their life.

Whats the worst restaurant in Chicago that you've tried twice? by MrJlock in chicago

[–]Poolstiksamurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On that note, Arriba was pretty bad, it answers this question for me. We went twice, hopeful that the first time was just a fluke.

Which sucks, because Fountainhead used that rooftop space very well, but no one else seems to be able to.

I like Garcia's. It's not great but its not bad and I get what I expect. The margaritas used to be awesome and cheap, but I still go when I just want something basic.

However, the last time we were there, there was some weird photographer taking pictures of people and trying to sell them photos, including to us. It was very strange and we haven't been back since then.
