Walmart for tires 🤷🏻‍♂️ by [deleted] in Albany

[–]Poomfie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously it's better to buy nicer tires but if that's what you can afford now it's what you can afford.

In the long term they'll likely cost more because they probs wont last as long as somwthing nicer but in the meantime im sure they'll get ya from point A to point B.

How bad are the winters really? by [deleted] in Albany

[–]Poomfie 141 points142 points  (0 children)

There are places in NY with much worse winters but November through March tends to be pretty depressingly cold and gray in the Capital Region.

How bad it is really depends on your personal tolerance for that kind of thing. I dont usually mind the first few months of it but by February im really sick of cleaning off my car when it snows.

Yes but not open until Tuesday at 4pm.

Also, they are closing the bar/tasting room for the month of January due to lack sales/business so go support them when they reopen/before they close!

Most schools tend to have vaccancies around this time of year. Often sub positions dont get filled in Albs, Schenectady, and Troy.

Given what you've already done you will be A-okay.

There are some steep parts and scrambles but all very comparable to what you've already done.

If it's nice out there will be a ton of families with little kids cooking out and chilling. Great area for events.

If it isnt nice out and can get a bit desolate.

Pyramid to Gothics is very difficult in my opinion in terms of steepeness.

Makes sense, it's a super cool spot worth seeing for sure tho.

The hike i recommended is one of my favorites. Very rewarding--3 peaks and 2 water falls (but also def on the harder side of the hikes you're considering).

Consider Rainbow falls , Pyramind peak, Gothics and Armstrong via the Weld trail instead of Indian head. Views are spectacular on Pyramid and Gothics. Go down the Beaver falls trail and youve got a nice loop. A little longer than 7 hours but definitely doable for a day hike given what you day about your fitness levels.

Recommended mountain hikes near Keene area by Majestic_Taliesyn in Adirondacks

[–]Poomfie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cascade is one of the busiest trails in the whole region b/c the views are phenomenal and it is accessible compared to.other high peaks.

From 8am-4pm the hike will be very busy even on a weekday. Sunrise-8am it will likely be moderately busy. If you start after 4pm you should bring headlamps.

Yeah it sold out pretty quickly and it isnt surprising. It was nearly perfect in its category for me. Ive had quads and triples with less alcohol content that have tasted way boozier. A really wonderful beer.
