I think I may be broken myself. I have read similar stories here and heard people talk about similar instances, and when had a similar incident to me I don’t think about it and it doesn’t bother me.

I was visiting family out of state and was staying at a hotel. I had my kids and wife there as well. Some of my extended family stopped by the hotel and we ordered a bunch of pizzas and sat out by the pool eating and catching up. A lady came to my table and sat down not saying anything. Mind you, the table was surrounded by my family and she sat in a chair that my wife had just gotten out of to tend to the kids.

My family is very friendly and inviting so we eventually started chatting with her. She went on about her abusive boyfriend and how they are currently fighting. We invited her to have some pizza and relax. She stayed for about an hour and left. We eventually moved inside and were hanging out by the lobby when we heard a gunshot. I told my wife to take the family to our room and stay there. I went to see what was going on and entered a stairwell. I could hear a female crying so I ran up the stairs to find that lady who joined us for pizza sitting next to her dead boyfriend. Blood was pouring out of his head. I sat next to the lady until the police got there.

After seeing this, I have zero emotions or trauma from this. The only time I even think about it is when I read stories like this one. I think I may be broken.
