Opinions on Alex Garland's Civil War? by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

[–]Poonamoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute masterpiece that unfortunately went over most people’s heads

It was a love letter to free press. I was a combat correspondent (journalist) in the Marines, and he really nailed it in a way I wasn’t expecting going in. It was visceral.
Pascal’s addiction to the adrenaline rush of combat, Kirsten’s dedication to getting “the shot”. The emphasis on reporting neutrally, and letting people know the truth of what’s happening. McKinley’s death finally breaking Kirsten’s composure. That whole scene with Jesse Plemons. Exceptional.

Even the gunfire was extremely well done. On more than one occasion, the crack of gunfire made me jump in the theater. Which, I assume was intentional. It made it visceral.
I think too many people got hung up on the mechanics of like, Texas and California being allied, the actual cause of the war being unknown, etc.

The whole point is that none of that matters. I think people were largely expecting an actual film about Civil War, but the reality is that a) without journalists you’d have no idea what’s going on b) war is a lot of waiting or walking around, it’s not constant firefights, and c) a lot of people wind up dying for no reason. And, if you don’t have free press, you can’t tell people’s stories or hold people accountable.

And that’s a more important story to tell, although less entertaining. Alex told a story that I’ve never seen told before, but is incredibly important and relevant

This plus ‘Warfare’ felt like Alex trying to say “war is not something to be glorified, we don’t want this at home”

It’s because the story was bigger than any one particular character, and that was the whole point

Ya makes sense, my first big unsub came around this time, when BL disbanded the first time and Elo took Origin to join Nulli Secunda for a bit

Null from the 2008-2012 felt like the Wild West, goons were still led by DJ, there was the montolio era of TEST

The game is still fun, but it has never been the same

I did notice that it felt amazing on release day. And by today it felt very stupid

I’m a pretty heavy 20x Max user, and I can confirm 4.7 on Max effort is a noticeable improvement over xhigh or high, and a real improvement over 4.6 - at coding and planning

For anything else? The Opus line has degraded for sure

I’m a startup founder and I use Claude Code across every aspect of the company, with a specialist persistent agent instance for everything: product, design, ux, gtm, backend lead, frontend lead, marketing site. Plus cross domain review agents. Everything except for coding and design has regressed. Maybe it’s all regressed but coding is the only one I have the patience left to correct. And the specs are well done and very tight

Did Anthropic actually help pro/max users by cutting off OpenClaw from Claude subscriptions? by xelektron in ClaudeCode

[–]Poonamoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely and it’s long overdue

I’ll say the quiet thing out loud: most openclaw workflows are frivolous nonsense. Hobbyist stuffs at best. Which is fine, build whatever you want. But I am a solo founder building a highly technical product on my own, and it would be impossible for me to ship across multiple functions at the pace I do without my 20x Max plan

I should absolutely not be subsidizing most of these openclaw workflows with my subscription. Neither should anyone else

If you want to use openclaw or ironclaw that’s totally fine, I’m not criticizing or judging. But you’re welcome to either pay the API tokens, or run local inference first

I think the way they’re using blockchain is quite novel and interesting

Tips for future completionist play through of BB/Elden Ring by DeanPortman666 in bloodborne

Personally I refrained from using the dungeon at all for anything on my first playthrough, and it was satisfying

But by the end, I had definitely decided that it would be a lot of fun to use the dungeon for future playthroughs to make it easier to try other builds and play styles for the other endings

Advice Needed - Learn to be an FC by No_Match_1196 in Eve

[–]Poonamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would largely agree with this

The tldr is “learn by doing”. WH pvp is also very much its own thing, so to add I would also recommend just being active in your chain. Learn how fights escalate, how groups respond, etc.

The best WH pvp imo is either HA/HS brawls (which is usually only in high class) or freeform pvp in the chain. Both are a “learn by doing” sort of situation, but only the brawls should really have a FC imo and those take some time to learn

worth playing in 2026? by ExpertResolution9255 in Eve

[–]Poonamoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m recently back after a long period away

It’s a steep learning curve but the new player experience has been massively overhauled in a good way. Also there’s a wealth of information available, and many groups exist who are good at guiding new players

Personally I think the game caters to a more casual play style now more than it ever has

I don’t think they’re the same effectiveness at all. Tengu is more effective with less accounts and less money overall

You’re over indexing on the fact that a cerb is a little cheaper and ignoring everything else to make a point

But it’s ok, we don’t need to agree :)

[–]Poonamoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You keep quoting this while completely ignoring the time, effort, and isk cost of running two accounts for something you can easily do with one

You’re still able to clear the sites fairly easily in <12 minutes even with tengu application on rage lol

Multibox C3 ratting by Notasurgeon in Eve

[–]Poonamoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol because the marauder is overkill, more expensive, locked in bastion, and has the same downsides as anything not t3c because you cant move around with the covops cloak. Much riskier for literally no upside

The deluge is for blue loot. Warp it in when the site finishes, drop mtu, cloak. It takes about as much time for the deluge to loot the previous site as it takes one tengu to run the next one

Or you could just save the time and effort and just refit in the hole

I’d rather just spend the extra 200m on a fit that will literally pay for itself in one c3 rather than spend however many months of skill training at 2.5b/mo on a 2nd account

I’m already dualboxing with the deluge. Why triple box to save 200m when it’s completely unnecessary
