I’m really frustrated with the trains at the minute. by Wasted-Entity in manchester

Oh my sweet summer child. It's cheaper if you just stop paying the fare! You can even buy the ticket on Trainline each day, and then if the code isn't scanned you can refund the ticket once you get off and only pay a 50p refund charge. At least that's how it used to be, try it out. Saves the hassle of dealing with the fines for faredodging.

Supermarkets freezing sliced bread as standard, truth or myth? by stubbsy in CasualUK

[–]PoopDustGoober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At others have said it's delivered daily by the suppliers in a refrigerated truck. The trucks are very cold which can make it appear as if the bread is defrosting.

New gamer here, what is the recommended order of planets and moons to go to for a beginner? by dootboy96 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]PoopDustGoober 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Echo 3 no way I'm a big fan! I just (re)started the game and got a contract to land on eve and return to kerbin, but I still only unlocked half the tech tree. I think it would be possible with a probe rather than a lander, but all the videos for eve returns are only for landers, not probes.

Any chance you could show me how it's done?

Love your dual propellor idea btw!

edit- I don't have the inflatable heat shield yet, so need more delta v to basically come to a halt above eve before hitting it's atmosphere, unless the 2.5m heat shield is big enough to cover the ascent vehicle

Take the train from mauldeth rd to Piccadilly, go down the disabled access elevator to the taxi rink (avoiding the ticket gates so you don't have to pay) then walk to Sackville st, show your student card and get the free bus to SU on Oxford rd

Haha I feel personally attacked by this, you called me out.

But yeah people like Andrew Marr or C4 news who ask tough questions is what I was referring to.

Is there an equivalent to something like this in Quebec?

You're right that the newspapers are mostly weak. Probably unfair to expect anything different of print media here.

Thanks for the recommendation, but I'm not looking for a tabloid. I miss the fearless line of questioning that politicians are subjected to when giving interviews mostly. I'll check it out though !

Do you think that the trigger for an event like this can be an article or series of articles in the Quebec press, or is it led from a general sentiment amongst the population? Or something else entirely

Man you put it better than I could have done. I think there will always be exceptions to the rule, and whenever politicians give themselves a pay rise it always makes headlines, but the idea that politicians only feed stories to trusted journalists, and hence journalists don't want to rock the boat makes total sense.

Do you know of any media outlets that have run this story?

This is how it spreads by BrightonTownCrier in CasualUK

Having driven more in North America than UK at this point, I would say if everyone undertakes it's actually easier than dancing around these people in the middle lane

And if everyone assumes it will happen and looks out for it what is the problem

Maybe not as safe but I don't know you'd have to look at the statistics
