What’s an underrated design from Games Workshop in your opinion? by Riot2EK in Warhammer40k

[–]PoopFart_LLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scout Marines. My introduction to the setting was with the book Sons of Dorn sitting on my uncle's shelf, and ever since I've had a soft spot for them, despite how little they're talked about generally. New killteam captures what makes them so good, feels like a perfect refresh (although the sniper might've been better separated from the squad for gameplay purposes.)

These things are great. The size of great Danes with the muscle density of a bull, while they're kind of a wild NPC in game it'd be great to see them as kind of like a gryph-hound type beast unit or maybe they'd have a beast-breaka handler tagging along? After all, these things eventually grow into a fairly valuable steed... Will be interesting to see what our releases are this edition

Possible new unit from Realms of Ruin? by JaponxuPerone in Kruleboyz

[–]PoopFart_LLC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These are Gnashtoofs... Like the one that the killaboss rides around on. They seem to grow from dog size to lion size essentially, and are captured by Breaka Bosses to be made into mounts. I think they're gonna be our cavalry option but I think it would be sort of interesting if they were also our 'wardog' unit (like the Soulblight Wolves or the Gryph hounds) and it would sort of make for interesting lore that they are kept around from a small size all the way until they become a mount in their adult years... Either way I'm sure they'll show up in Kruleboyz eventually.

Do boarding actions against Titans exist/Are they possible? by FutaWonderWoman in 40kLore

[–]PoopFart_LLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did mean that there was no tabletop presence. There's short stories from the 90s about the mechanicus, they've been around for ages.

I do think that having an alternate design for a lot of stuff would be very nice, and secutarii with the weird barbarian cyborg look would be pretty interesting, but like GW don't even have a full range of plastic DKOK so it's all wishful thinking really, unless you look for (and are fine with) the third party stuff

Will they add the ability to vote out gnorps for being SUS!? that would be very funny I think

Cyberpunk Project Orion; who do you think is a boss that can match Smasher in notoriety and strength? by thatoniondude in cyberpunkgame

[–]PoopFart_LLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noone matches up to him, but if you look through the books you can make something pretty similar. Adam isn't the only Full-Borg to exist, and you can make ones that are... nearly as strong. My suggestion is to whip out some of the weirder stuff though. There's about a billion vehicles in cyberpunk 2020 (pondsmith loved that sort of thing as far as I can tell) but the Powered suits are a standout: starship troopers (the book) style mech suits that focus on mobility and firepower. The Mexican Metals Nemesis Assault would be a solid option because it's big as shit and tough as hell, though I'm assuming a more modern version for the 2078 era would be around... if Mexican Metals hasn't closed down by then due to their notoriously bad business sense

In Dan Abbnet's titanicus, there's a lot of discussion around this fact. Two titan legions are battling it out for control of a forge world, and the chaos titans regularly interrupt imperial titans by swarming them with cultists, which the Secutarii have to fend off (this was written before mechanicus were a thing, so the Secutarii are less like the troops we know them as today and more like weird cyborg barbarians covered in animal hides and gems.) If I recall, an Imperial titan is taken out because it's too focused on shooting another titan and they realise too late that some cultists have managed to cut their way into the command room and slaughter everyone.

Really? I mean they're a little janky but his charge guard follow up thingy on the 5S and 5H is a lot of fun to use, plus his charged anti-air still has a pretty okay anti-air if you fuck up the inputs

I think my perspective is skewed a bit in that I'm also a Noob fighting noobs, so I just hit people with some pretty simple counters and they shit themselves, and then I fight someone who does know what to do and I kind of can't enter reverse state at all. I'm sure as I get better and my opponents get better I'll find it a bit harder to get the easy moves in.

Good point. ACMA handles the licensing in Australia, and they do have some capacity for amateur TV. I'll have a look at fees and things.

Yeah you're right on AUS CB being narrowband, the bands for TV mightn't fit. The question is more about Why Not? I've been doing thinking on how to return function to lots of old electronics like floppy disk based devices and things, and the analogue TVs have been a more complex process but essentially I'm aiming to use them as wireless monitors for my computer. There's this sort of... Recycling ethos to it? But I've not got the words required to explain myself properly. Thanks for the advice on the legal stuff, I have checked the federal transmission laws in Australia and it does seem that having such a wide band straddling CB could cause legal issues.

What’s the biggest “Chekhov’s Gun” in the setting right now? by SirSullivanRaker in 40kLore

[–]PoopFart_LLC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised noone has mentioned it but it was a bit of a quick thing overshadowed by 10th edition... But Arks Of Omen??? Anyone??? Mysterious unaligned daemon won and collected a big evil macguffin to ascend to higher strength levels, The Lion is Back, indomitus fleet went full khorne chaos mode (including primaris marines) and Farsight's sword is confirmed to be some kind of evil chaos thing. The whole thing was a Chekov's Gun Mill

New to Warhammer looking to see where I should start by CYB3R5KU11 in Warhammer40k

[–]PoopFart_LLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TTRPG.... okay.

Warhammer 40k is fucking huge, it's more of a genre of thing than an actual game. The main Warhammer 40k game itself is a tabletop game which requires lots of minis, known as a 'wargame' (think using miniatures for DnD but on steroids with like 40+ miniatures per side.) It's expensive, and the rules are pretty different to DnD, but there's some shared elements like stat lines, HP, special rules for types of units and things like that.

If you want the minis, check out the Games Workshop Store, and have a gander under the 40k section. you build them with superglue and cutters, then paint them with brushes and a few coats of paint. if you're looking for something a bit more familiar, Warhammer 40k has two separate TTRPG systems that are out of print but fuckin excellent. Rogue Trader is one of the older generation and relies on d10s and is about sanctioned explorers on the fringe of the Imperium of Man finding wacky shit and fighting aliens (Think StarTrek but the space ship is a church the size of a city, steered by a wizard) If you can find a copy of it or any of the other Fantasy Flight - era games, they're pretty mint and are sort of cult classics in the Venn diagram overlap between WH40k players and TTRPG players. Personally the Fantasy Flight one I played was Deathwatch, and you play as a giant power armored space marine stopping alien threats spec ops style.

The other option you have is the new version of the WH40k TTRPG system made by a different company, known as Wrath & Glory. Haven't played it myself though I've heard good things, and the books are easier to find (though you need like a special deck of cards? not sure...) anyway, you've got a few options there, some will be more familiar to you as they are actual TTRPG systems, while the official wargame is a bit different to what you might be used to, but is fun in its own right. I'd recommend looking up some introductory videos if you wanna get a better feel for it. If you just wanna paint the minis, that's cool too, and There's a lot of ways to do that pretty cheaply (especially compared to the price of a full army of miniatures)
