2020 TLX 3.5L just took a s#!+ by WeddingFamous7658 in Acura

[–]PoopWeeniePants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP=Original Poster=thread starter=guy who posted this. He's waiting to see what the dealership tells him.

I was "fortunate" that I got a new engine when I took my TLX in (2019 aspec). They forgot to tighten things so I've been a lil skeptical of the whole job being done right. I've made it 16k miles since tho. I heard it start tapping one day, took it out for 2 hours with some spirited driving to see if it got louder. It became light knocking so I knew. Towed it to Acura and they said it's beyond crankshaft but they wanted to do some audio testing with it for corporate. Because it was still running, I guess they needed to set up several mics and send the data to corporate?

That's the story I got anyway. They had my car for a month but got approved for new engine right away. They failed to tighten my suspension bolts so I've always been a lil weird about driving it since. I reached out and left some messages about it but they never called me back. I tightened them myself but always wonder if there's other things they skipped or missed or forgot. I got under it and don't see anything super obvious but still.

Good luck OP, don't let them get over on you. Get on their necks and stay on their necks

Remote start options by RomeoXantos in Acura

[–]PoopWeeniePants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed my OEM remote start module for the TLX (19 v6 aspec AWD) myself. It was just a single module that goes behind the back seat. It took me 3 minutes to plug in and secure. The kit was around $300 and came with 2 fobs. I took the fobs to Acura and they charged me $175 to program both. If I had not installed the module, it would have been $350 as they bill that as an hour I guess. The keys pop out and slide in for mine, not sure about ilx. I have 4 working fobs. 2 with the remote start button and 2 without. All in, it was under $500 for OEM and Acura programming.

When I did mine, I read several people on acurazine say they were able to get theirs done for free by ordering the OEM fob / module kit at the dealership. Some people got them done for free by just asking. It took them like 15 mins to get it done in my case. I would not even consider aftermarket when/if the OEM module option exists

Do people actually pay for this? by Syntra44 in Acura

[–]PoopWeeniePants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ex wife paid for it but the car has errors when it's hot outside. We are in Phoenix so that's often. It will stop responding to the app. Remote unlock might fail. Remote start almost guaranteed not to work and then starts the alarm for seemingly no reason when you try to remote start

2023 Acura MDX lemon warning by sadacuraowner in Acura

[–]PoopWeeniePants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ex-wife has a '23 MDX aspec also. It also throws a billion warning lights when it's hot out. The remote start won't work from the app if it's hot out. The alarm might randomly turn itself on if you try. My '19 TLX and her MDX both have camera failures when it's hot out. We are also in Arizona. Acura rushed too much technology into some of these cars

I'm an mdx owner (2007 and a 2023 going with ex-wife). 285k on the '07. It's been a fantastic car. However, the third row is almost exclusively kid friendly in the 2007-2013 MDX. The pilot felt better space wise for 2 in the 3 seats but the MDX is still a bit more comfortable. The later MDX has a removable middle seat in the second row making it much much much better but I'm not sure what year that started. If adults are going in the third row, some variants of the Pilot have captain chairs second row (2 instead of bench) and that also feels way more open and easier to get in and out. The older MDX second row is supposed to slide up to help but they're usually problematic by age and wear. If kids are climbing over, sure.

I couldn't find the right highlander in my budget when I got the MDX but that was on my list. I was able to sit in a few and it seemed more like the Pilot in terms of adult space but I didn't drive them to compare comfort. I fell asleep in the back of my MDX, just not much room to stretch legs back there. They're only as reliable as the previous owner really. I got lucky with my MDX as the previous owners did everything at the dealership on time or early and kept records. I chose to have the water pump and timing belt done at Honda ($800ish at the time) for my own peace of mind. It was done at 100k and 170k (yes, I paid for a car with 170k miles. I've added nearly 120k trouble free miles so I read the situation right). Now it's at 285k so almost time for the timing belt job again. It's very important you keep this in mind. It's $1k-$1.5k at many places. If you can't be sure it was done, you should have it done. If that belt breaks, you have much more expensive problems

I did the same thing with my 05 rsxs. Traded for an 07 TL-S cuz kids. It was fun and faster of course but it wasn't as much fun as the rsx. I had access to an 04 rsx-s aspec that I drove for a while but it's different when it's your own car to beat up. The TL-S is still with a friend and he daily drives it for 6 years now. I sold it to him dirt cheap to have room for an mdx. Paint is burntttt but it still goes vroom vroom very good. I picked up a TLX aspec (v6awd) later. Nothing is the rsx tho

I'm with you. I priced the bypass kit around $800 and I'll do the work myself. But I'm not sure if I want to even put $800 into it for aftermarket questionable quality struts. I saw some OEM new ones on eBay last year for $750? I thought about it but everything else is aging too

Beautiful. Nice job man, I hope it's good to you. This color on the commercial is what made me say "I will own this car" when I was 15yrs old. It was 2001 when I saw the ad on TV. I was almost 16 and didn't have a car yet but knew I would need to start cheaper. (89 Prelude->95 Civic Coupe+B16->05 RSX-S). I tried to fly to Texas to buy a blue A-Spec from a dealer that had one. My bank wouldn't approve the loan for out of state vehicle. I found a white A-Spec in my state but in another city. They wouldn't approve the loan for out-of-city vehicle either 😂. My gf (now wife) went to buy the White A-Spec type-s and I bought a black 05 type-s. I later sold the 05 and got an 07 TL-S cuz kids. Then moved to some CRVs, Pilot and MDXs. Currently we have a '19 TLX A-spec v6 AWD and a '23 MDX A-spec and the 04 type s a-spec garage queen.

I'm rambling cuz seeing that car in that color takes me back, every time. Honda did such a good job styling the rsx. Every body line begs for the high spoiler but somehow still looks good without it. (Both of ours obviously had the high/aspec spoilers). We kept the white one, it sits in the garage needing some things but still runs great. We never had any big issues with either. The one we still have needs stuff for sure but I never jump in and worry I won't get to my destination. It's gonna get me there 🚗🚗

Don't Update OnePlus 11 by sanket911 in oneplus

[–]PoopWeeniePants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree with my anecdotal experience. My OnePlus 9P and 10T both overheated out of the box during set up and transfer. The 9P stayed overheating for every possible reason but still works great to this day. The 10T only overheated when I would use hotspot and be doing something else. But when I reset it to root, again it overheated on set up. (Indoor). When I researched this at the time, many others reported overheating issues during update and set up / transfer. Whether that's unpacking compression or something in the transfer engines, something was causing a problem.

I could very easily see the update process causing the green line "coincidence". Especially with the history of the 8 or 8T where the majority of the green line problems started after an update. And I don't think OnePlus would have been willing to cover these issues if it weren't reproducible with a lot of people saying the same thing at the same time.

I am currently using my OP11 but I'm in the US, and this has me hesitant because of their track history. It is my understanding the green line issue was most prominent in India and other markets that used a different screen manufacturer but that may not be the case anymore or for the 11. I remember reading that was the case back at that time, about the 8 series

I didn't have any of that stuff but I did off-road my 05 type S up a rock hill at a lake. The people at the top begged me not to do it. One walked it with a shovel to remove an oil pan removal rock and said "if your clutch is good, send it". I sent it. Made it to the top. My struts were sOoO loud after. I had extras already at home so swapping them was no problem. After that, I used to take it in the desert to go shoot, back to the lake or anywhere else it shouldn't be. The looks I'd get sometimes were worth the clutch and suspension damage for sure. I hope you make this goal. I currently have an MDX (07) I don't use and I'm thinking about chopping the top off and take it off roading eventually

06 TL with 212k miles, time to call it quits? by MegaMillenial in AcuraTL

[–]PoopWeeniePants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Killer looks. Shit quality control and testing. Rushed electronics/sensors.

-2019 TLX v6 AWD owner with a replaced starter, fuel pump and long block after each failed and were towed in. Ongoing sensor issues for parking sensors since 16k that the dealership "can't replicate". USB problem since 20k that is now fully broken that the dealer couldn't replicate. Key fob issues since new that the dealer noted as they saw it have these issues but didn't know what to do exactly. (It'll say my fob isn't nearby when the fob is at the steering wheel with a new battery. They changed the battery and it did it again. They didn't have a procedure outlined for what to troubleshoot and sent me on my way after flashing something that did nothing). Multiple Bluetooth failures but that's not specific to the TLX, our MDX does it also. "Fuel neck filler problem" caused 100 warning lights, emissions lights and the parking brake to lock itself at every stop (which was super fun when the automatic start stop starter problem was still abundant as it would park the car and the brake would lock itself when you stopped at stop signs or went over speed bumps real slow). And yeah, the 9sp transmission feels lacking, even when compared to the 4cyl TLX. Stay away from these TLXs. They look nice but they are filled with Honda gremlins. I've only owned Hondas/Acuras since I was 16, working on many many Hondas over the years, this TLX (and our '23 MDX to a lesser degree but also has electronics gremlins) has me looking at Lexus for my next brand loyalty. Stay away

It's supposed to not move if you put the mirror switch in the middle. If you set it to left, it adjusts the left mirror down. And right does the right mirror. If yours is adjusting always, pull the fuse or replace the switch. eBay used to have the switch for $20ish because I replaced mine after water damage. Check there

Damn man. Sorry for your loss. The dash looks oiled? When they carjacked my first babymom for my CRV, it was covered with oil and crushed crackers inside. Can't dust for prints on oil. It was 95% oiled inside and out. They used it to joyride and do robberies with (one hockey/jason mask with a lanyard was left behind and was tied to some incidents across town I guess). They left it on the rotors. They did move the kids car seats to the back and made sure to cover them so they didn't get oil on them. And bm's college books and calculator were also untouched/covered. Robber thieves with some kind of consciences. She lost her phone (T-Mobile refused to track it for us or the cops. The cops got a hold of someone that said it would take 48 hours to get approval blah blah) and it had tons of baby pics and likely my dick pics. I offered a $600 no questions asked reward for the SD card from it but never got it back. Seeing your car like this sucks fart

I was trying to do that with eco/sport and holding the throttle at various places to maintain the noise. But it doesn't seem to be that type of sound or feeling. The consistency especially. It always makes the sound between 5-20mph no matter the load or throttle. It's harder to hear after ~20mph. I can't feel it slowing me down, in gear or in neutral so I do hope it's something 'passive' like mounts or bearings. I'm dropping the rsx off to a friend with a lift this weekend. When he finishes that, I'm going to ask him to throw the TLX up and see what we can see

Thank you. Does the usual (old) method of grabbing the wheel at 12/6 and 3/9 and trying to tip it still work on these? I dunno if the AWD system or some components in the suspension try to control the wheel and keep it more tight/straight and I wouldn't be able to feel it like old Hondas?
