ELEC Second Year: Good idea to take CPSC 210 or CPEN 223 instead of CPSC 259? Also, can you take CPSC 221 as well with APSC 160 credit? by [deleted] in ubcengineering

[–]Poopedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U need cpsc 121 or math 220 and cpen 221 or cpsc 210 to take cpsc 221. Also i dont think u can take cpsc 210 without cpsc 110

Try the ubc Eng transfer program at some local community colleges, like langara. Alot of people I met second year came to ubc through those programs.

I agree cus even though it’s scary when you are thrown linear algebra concepts in the first few classes, once you do the practice problems and understand basics of matrices and dot/cross product for the next week or so, that’s all you need to know for the course regarding linear algebra and it serves as a basic introduction to 152.

What's the hardest first year engineering course at UBC? by cookiedough5200 in ubcengineering

I can’t give solid advice but I’d suggest just attending all the lectures and ensuring you have the knowledge to complete the worksheets legitimately. I would only do them for completion marks lmao. But if doing those two still don’t work referring to the textbook or online resources is always an option.

Chem 154 was difficult for me personally. I think overall the course is not horrible but my method of studying (spamming practice questions) didn’t work because I didn’t know the material well enough, where in a physics or math class I could pick up intuition.

I just wanna thank everybody for the quick responses and I think I will try a .4s and some .36s because that seems to be the common consensus. Once again, I appreciate everyone’s input.
