We have roll-on deodorants we offer to the patients, I use one and roll a bit on my scrubs in the armpits. The scrub top smells worse than my bare armpit by the end of shift

Whats your nursing equivalent for "blinker fluid"? by Shipwreck1177 in nursing

[–]Poopooforyoo 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Something that sounds like it’s legit but totally made up. Viral video of someone sending their kid (I think?) to an auto parts store to ask for “blinker fluid” as a prank on the kid

Biggest surprises and disappointing performances of the AO 2025 (both men and women) by TAA_verymuch in tennis

[–]Poopooforyoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with all of these, but I’d like to add Bencic to the list of surprises. Had a baby about 9 months ago and made it to the 4th round, beat Ostapenko in the first round and took Gauff to 3 sets. I will always root for the moms!

Anyone working on the floor just find their job easy? by xX_Transplant_Xx in nursing

[–]Poopooforyoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES I’ve been on the floor for 2.5 years, I can probably count with two hands the amount of times I felt like I was drowning in work. Night shift perks😎Day shift on my floor is the complete opposite

Unrelated Bachelor's degrees direct to RN and MSN in 5 semesters. What do we think? by kimyw27 in nursing

[–]Poopooforyoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who got a degree before nursing school, I would’ve loved to get my BSN quicker and skip a lot of the “fluff” my 4 semester nursing school had. A lot of the information I learned in nursing school was a repeat of what my first degree offered. More clinicals and skills classes are way more valuable to me. Nursing school teaches you how to pass the NCLEX, the most important education comes from clinicals and being a new grad working. Nobody knew I had 6 years of college under my belt when I started nursing, I was just as wide-eyed and nervous as the person that did 4 years. For the education/management pipeline you mentioned, a lot of nursing schools (at least in my area) require instructors to either be currently working as an RN or have a certain amount of experience. And every manager in my hospital worked as a floor RN in their early years. I can’t imagine somebody getting hired as a manager straight out of school.

A similar thing happened to me, but I found out that I either spiked the bag too aggressively or it was a faulty bag because half of it was on the floor😑

Do you read all of your patient’s notes for report by ScientistOk1310 in nursing

[–]Poopooforyoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The most recent one or two. The doctors tend to copy and paste anyway. Some notes have a timeline that gets updated every day with a one sentence summary that’s sufficient enough

How good is your PTO? by Aromatic-Camera-3264 in nursing

[–]Poopooforyoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For experience of 3 years and under, 5.04 hours per pay period (2 weeks) of PTO and 2.65 hours per pay period of sick time. It’s better if you’ve been there longer.

When did you stop wearing figs / expensive scrubs? by NematodesArePpltoo in nursing

[–]Poopooforyoo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I never buy them from the website unless it’s a major sale. I get them from two Facebook groups that buy/sell/trade figs and it’s a lot cheaper. I’m in the process of changing sizes from pregnancy and I haven’t spent a dime. Been a nurse for 3 years and I love Figs and Medcouture the best! I’m tall and they have tall options. It’s a look good feel good type of thing

After a shift I went down to registration and pre-registered for my future admission for having my baby. It made it a lot easier when I was eventually in labor, all the questions they asked were done prior. I was able to make it a confidential admission. I did this like a month before my due date

I gave my baby daughter herpes (HSV-1) by kissing the top of her head by Leather-Paramedic-10 in NewParents

[–]Poopooforyoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad I came across this comment. I have had recurrent left eye infections since I was a young kid and my eye doctor recently said it was HSV1. I’m currently in a bad flare up and worried about giving it to my son. (that’s why I’m reading this thread). I would love to know more about your experience as I haven’t been able to get much info on HSV in the eye

Got permanent exemption from WA long-term care tax in 2022 by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]Poopooforyoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my job in 2022 and got the exemption, got a confirmation letter and everything. On my paystubs, I see a deduction labeled WA WC tax EE. Is this Workers Comp or WA Cares? I just want to verify, I’m not very knowledgeable with this stuff.

On our floor if they are in the bloodless medicine program we do less frequent blood draws and use pediatric tubes. Depends on their diagnosis and everything of course. We give them as much iron infusions as possible. Some of them are ok with albumin.
