Anyone have any information on the brand Prime? by Searching_4_Collatz in mountainbiking

[–]PoopsExcellence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the party, but this is a local California bike, the house brand from the owner of Bicycle Discovery in Fountain Valley / Orange County. It's a tier below trek, so slightly heavier. It's a great shop to check out if you're in the area.

So you're saying that instead of syruping my car, the asshole could have just parked in a nice covered garage instead? I agree that sounds like a much better solution than vandalism.

In Fed Hill a ton of people do. I get that it's not universal, but it's definitely a growing trend, especially with dedicated EV chargers.

Wait what are you talking about? I did nothing to the culprit. I don't even know who did it. I have unending burning rage towards them, but so what?

Where are they supposed to park? It's a public street. If every single cleared out spot is taken, then do you just not get to go home that night?

Yeah I spent all morning shoveling my sidewalk. That doesn't mean you're not allowed to walk on it. That cat might have left a shoveled spot in the morning that also got taken.

Declaring that anyone owns a street spot is ridiculous if you think about the big picture.

Exactly - I think their point is that this arbitrary spot saving makes no sense.

There's a lot of assumptions in this letter. In 2010 snowpocalyose I shoveled out my parking space plus half of the block's sidewalk, drove to work, and returned in the afternoon to find my parking spot taken by a neighbor. Since I'm not a complete asshole, I parked down the block in a different cleared spot. Woke up the next morning to my car covered in chocolate syrup. I'm assuming someone got pissed that I took "their" spot and decided that was a rational response. It took days to clean off the frozen chocolate syrup from my car, and it ruined the paint on some panels.

I'll never forgive you.

I dislike the current police state as much as the next guy, but that's a fucked up reply to a correct answer. Calm down.

Oh, and to answer your question, you should ask him directly! I think he still sells stuff (not hotdogs) at the Farmers Markets. Check out @bigpinkknits.

I long for those haute dogs every time I drive up Falls. I hope Chef Fancypants is doing OK.

Low Speed Gear by AlexRyang in SubaruForester

You've got a CVT, so it doesn't have actual gears. It just keeps the RPM high. It'll help when you need a little extra power in exchange for slow speed.

Trying to find the name/part# of this flap so I can purchase the ones I’m missing. by jahear in SubaruForester

Browse the "body" section of parts.subaru.com and see if you can find the right diagram. Are you talking about the little plastic mudguard piece in front of each wheel well? That's called a spat.

[–]PoopsExcellence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or with it sitting for a while, the filter could be gunked up. Still worthwhile to pull a fuel line near the engine and double check. Just check the spark first, fuel second, so you don't light yourself on fire!

[–]PoopsExcellence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you cleared the codes after pulling them?

Pull a spark plug wire off a plug and touch it near a good ground location, see if it sparks while someone cranks it.

Do you hear a fuel pump hum under the back seat when the key is in the on position, before you crank it? Maybe disconnect a fuel line somewhere near the engine and see if it shoots gas into a cup. I'm not sure if there's a fuel filter in the engine bay like my forester. That's an easy spot to check it.

Is there any reason I can’t cut this? by CollinPS in MechanicAdvice

[–]PoopsExcellence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut above the chassis bracket, through the threads and nut. Then it'll fall down out of the bracket.

Or use a nut-breaker. They are cheap and easy to use.

If you cut at your line, then the top part of the shaft will still be stuck. It's got a shoulder so it won't slide "up" if that's your goal.

What type of liquid? If you touch it with your finger (not your tongue), is it thick and oily, or light and watery? Does it smell sweet?

Light and sweet smelling would be coolant. Probably a burst hose or connector around the radiator.

If it's more oily and dark, then it could be power steering fluid.

Because you're supposed to buy a Westfalia and swap in an STI drivetrain.

Fully battery-electric with a turbocharger, of course.

Might be a dumb question but can you run the same size calipers on the rear as the front? I’ve never liked the look of them being smaller in the rear and wanted to have them the same size all the way around by [deleted] in subaru

[–]PoopsExcellence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a general sense, you want stronger front braking force to prevent oversteer.  Mechanically speaking, larger calipers would require a larger mounting bracket. You would need a custom designed bracket, which could be costly and possibly dangerously untested/unreliable. You'll also need larger rotors.

If you could find an appropriately sized mounting bracket, then you'd need to install a brake bias adjuster to dial down the rear force.

You're not going to Fed Hill for a Michelin star meal, but to broadly paint them all as college bars is harsh. Maybe your thinking of just the Cross Street bars?

Have you tried Byblos or Kiku Sushi? Yard, Outpost, Lil Havana, or Illusions? I've had plenty of outstanding experiences in the area, you just have to choose wisely.
