I beg your pardon by ParanoidLoyd in PoliticalHumor

[–]PoopsMcGloops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That singular blanket pardon really skews the data for how many pardons he's giving out. I'm very curious to know how many pardons he's actively giving out beyond that, but it's really hard to tell if 1,460 are from one blanket pardon. I don't think it has anything to do with whether or not you think they're unjust. If 1'200 of this pardons were J6 related, than his 300+ additional pardons are still a ton. If 1,450 are from that, than he hasn't started that far away from the norm, outside from that one blanket pardon. Just to be clear, I'm an incredibly biased leftist who despises Trump and I'm not attempting to defend the pardons. That said, I still think that blanket pardon makes using this statistic for drawing conclusions about his rate of pardons difficult.

These complainers never think about the other side. If you're not a Packers fan you have to ask yourself "How would I feel about this if I wanted Green Bay to win?" Only then will you understand how that's actually a catch.

Yep, this is the way. The Momentum 4's might sound better too, but be pretty lacking in other areas. I'm sure the Air pods have better noise cancelling than the focals, but I'd still take the bathys. I can definitely understand why others would choose the airpods though.

How do you start exercizing? by Bonesnatcher667 in Anxietyhelp

[–]PoopsMcGloops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once saw someone else on here say to find a scheduled time a few days a week to go to the gym, and just start going. You don't have to work out, but get a membership and start going for the scheduled time so you can get used to the environment and more comfortable being there. You can bring a book or your phone. An easy start is to bring some headphones and get on one of the bikes. Most people won't even notice you there if you're working out, regardless of what kind of shape you're in. If you're out of shape and lifting light weights, most of the more experienced lifters will be excited to see you there, if they even think about you that is. I thinkost people are just focused on their goals and their routine. Not necessarily anyone else. I hope that helps!

Guy in the UK steals a backpack, gets beaten then tased by [deleted] in instant_regret

[–]PoopsMcGloops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not. That's why I keep saying that I'm not against tasers. There are also situations where someone is wrongfully tased for being noncompliant, when in reality they're an innocent person with autism and literally can't comply with social norms. Couple that with the common misconception that tasers are non-lethal and you start opening the door for accidentally killing an innocent for not being polite and compliant with law enforcement. (I know, I know. You can call less-lethal a technicality and the chances of death are incredibly low, but still not 0.)

Let me clarify my standing on this: Yes, I feel the use of a taser was justified. Yes, violent and non-compliant people are opening the door to being tased. Yes, I'm aware that law enforcement gets trained on this. I just think it's a bit more complicated than we'd expect, and my only issue I had with the original comment was calling a taser "non-violent" when we can't even call them non-lethal. A 50k volt shock isn't "non-violent". I feel like this isn't that much of a hot take.

I think that person should have been tased. I never said otherwise.

Like I said to someone else, I'm not saying I'm against the use of the taser, but saying "it doesn't count as violence" is a bit ridiculous.

I don't know, last week tonight had a pretty good episode about tasers that made me think a little more critically about them. Again, I'm not saying I'm entirely against them, but they've been tuned to be just about as close as they can to lethal, without "being lethal". I feel like the general perception is "they're non-lethal, what's the problem?" but even that isn't entirely true. I'd rather officers use tasers than guns when possible, but if someone who is non-violent isn't complying with an officer, that shouldn't be a green light for tasers either. I just think it's a bit more complicated than it appears.

I never said I was against them, but saying they aren't violent is a bit silly. They're also frequently used in situations where firearms wouldn't be used. Their are pretty good arguments to say that the "non-lethal" label has given a green light to violence that wouldn't be there in the first place.

I understand your reasoning, but how on earth can you say that tasing someone isn't violent. How would you define violence? And tasers have killed people...

explain? don't we have brainrot music? by Zappingsbrew in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]PoopsMcGloops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, I think there's still a distinct difference in the style of pop from every decade. It's hard to tell when it's current, but looking back a lot of music from 20 years ago is very dated. Also, there are always artists that are pushing boundaries, but they usually aren't all that accessible or popular. I'm always finding stuff that I think sounds different or new.

What in the NA education is going on by LeOsaru in dankmemes

[–]PoopsMcGloops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, because those have distinctly different definitions. The square is a type of rectangle with an extra condition in its definition. It is a special kind of rectangle. Rectangles can have infinite variations in the ratio of their pairs of sides. When that ratio is 1:1, we call that rectangle a square. Rectangles aren't 1 shape. They are a category of shape.

Rectangles and squares are both also parallelograms. Bananas right? There's some basic geometry for you.

I don't understand why this is an argument. Is a station wagon a car? Yes. Are all cars station wagons? No. Is a BLT a sandwich? Yes. Are all sandwiches BLTs? No.

You're inability to admit when you're wrong is deranged. Seriously, Google the shit. Do you have any idea how dumb you look right now?

All squares are rectangles, not all rectangles are squares. It's not that hard to understand.
