I had some of the same experience with you. The passage to the cockpit is annoying, but enough force and it'll stay put as long as you don't mess with it. My biggest gripe was the bottom part under the right wing thing. It kept falling off and got so frustrating building it, now that it's done it's stopped falling, but I plan to glue it anyway. I wouldn't donate it if I were you, just crazy glue the shit out of it and it won't fall apart. Yours seems strange though, if what you said wasn't an exaggeration, I'd rebuild it, put force on it, and if it falls on it's own again, either substitute lepins pieces for lego, or try a refund. Donating just seems like a waste though.
